DANNI is a body image coach and body positivity influencer originally from Florida, now living in LA. She went viral in 2023 for practising the act of Sologamy and committing to herself in a wedding ceremony. She told Love Don't Judge: "I'm judged because I spent $4000 on a wedding to marry myself." Explaining her choice she said: "Before the wedding, I spent a couple of years in therapy, just really trying to find myself. During my self-love journey I stopped drinking, I stopped having s**, I spent a lot of quality time with myself, taking myself on dates. Just really finding out what I like." Growing up, Danni never understood the idea of a man walking you down the aisle and said weddings were all about the bride. She came up with the idea to marry herself before COVID but didn’t have her ceremony until 2022. Her unusual ceremony hit the headlines a year later, and critics came out in force. One commenter said: "This is the dumbest, most narcissistic c*** I've ever seen!" Danni said: "The most hurtful comment I experienced online was people saying that I had to marry myself because no one would want me. What messages are we sending people of size that they are unlovable, that they are unworthy? That's not true, I can get married to a man tomorrow!" But Danni chooses to focus on herself, and the inspiration she can give to others. "I will continue to inspire women and show little girls that loving themselves is the most beautiful thing they can do."

It’s a difference between narcissism and self-love. She loves herself and has confidence. As long as she’s happy, that’s all that matters. Hating her won’t make you a better person.

This is beautiful. ✨💐
“Why shouldn’t I celebrate myself?”

At least she wasn’t desperate enough to marry anyone.

A self love journey should be celebrated and everyone should do it, it makes you a better partner, friend, co-worker etc nothing like being at peace

If I was a man dating this young woman, I'd be intimidated. I'd be in a competition with someone who loves herself. You can see how happy she is being herself. That's not narcissism. That's self love.

WHY go on a date when you are ALREADY married to yourself?! Isn't that CHEATING?

I love her!!!
If someone spent the same amount on a birthday party no one would batter an eye.
By marrying yourself, you are essentially saying that you commit to putting you first… that’s soo wholesome ❤

This actually might be the healthiest thing I've seen on this channel in a while😕

This is not narcissism. I’m so glad I’m not a hater. Happy people make me happy. When people get threatened by happy people, it simply means they secretly ( not so secretly) hate themselves. It’s a cry for help. 😂

I stand WITH AND BESIDE YOU.

Too many folks don’t understand the importance of learning yourself - apart from others - and truly loving yourself in kind and celebratory ways.

It’s healthy NOT narcissistic. She’s not harming anyone.

I say good for her. Years ago I spent 4 times that amount to marry a complete jackass that I left within a year. If she'd have called it a "self affirmation ceremony", there wouldn't have been a word said about it. She's still hoping to find love with a partner... loving herself will help her to find a good person & not just settle for whoever comes along.

It's CRAZY how people are having an issue that she spent 4000$ on herself and her event but when a rich celebrity does it, it's considered normal. Can we grow up.

One day in church, a young member came up to me crying. She began telling me her fiancé to whom she was to marry the next week was not helping her pay for anything. She cried about how much everything was costing and she was on her own. She then proceeded to tell me he tricked another woman out of money to purchase her engagement ring. He had sex with her to get the money.

This was in 2013. I told her 1. It’s okay to have cake and punch. 2. It’s okay not to get married and just have a celebration of independence and healthy decision making.

She went on sobbing, crying, and hollering, “I just want a wedding. I just want to be married.”

She married him anyway and was divorcing 6mo later.

Just celebrate yourself.

I can’t lie, I don’t understand this personally, but if she’s happy then great. She only has to please herself anyways! I hate that her doing this has made her unsafe.

Side note, she looked beautiful at the wedding!

You go I want to marry me, myself and I. I've been abused in a relationship for 20 years and 20 years before that my mother abused me for 20 years. I'm now a single, independent lady, I feel so safe now and I understand this completely and wish people weren't so nasty to her. I have been so broken to the point that I ended up in a psychiatric hospital. Now I'm spending so much time finding me, I've never been so happy. I request that if you judge this, I do understand but please try see it from my perspective, I had no confidence in myself and people that I really loved were really cruel to me.

Love her blind date’s reaction—that he didn’t understand it at first but was so eager to listen and have his perspective changed. He seems like a total catch. And I love her, too. I wish the same self-love she has for everyone, truly. And I think her sharing her story will open up more avenues for people to obtain exactly that. So my hats off to her. ♡

It is different, but I think it's pretty cool actually. I don't think she's a narcissist at all. At least she doesn't come off that way. There's a big difference between confidence and cockiness. She seems genuine. I wish her all the best! We should all strive for such confidence and real self love. ❤️ I know I struggle with that, and lots of other people do too.

This is what self happiness looks like. A lot of people can learn a lot from her.

I am married to myself in my own mind. I actually thinks its beautiful to see her have a wedding for herself. She definitely inspired me more now. So thank you!
