Grow - A COLORS ENCORE by Facesoul
This tune taught me so much...
I went with the amazing filmmaker Kristian Mantalvanos down to this amazing spot in Court town beach, co.Wexford twice... The first time we were battling with the stormy and windy weather, so we tried but we both weren't too happy with the result and also it was quite a challenge to record the audio live in an outdoor environment specifically.
The second time was much better in terms of weather and mental mindset after what we learned the first time. So we did it.
When I finished to record this song, I listened back and I wasn't happy with the way I performed it. Guess what? I wanted to do it again but it was getting too dark and I was also done... My critic perfectionist mind was judging so much that after all Kristian's efforts, the weather, the tune itself, I just decided that I wouldn't have shared it.
Then Kristian and few more good friends made me realise that something done is better than something perfect and so I had the courage to shut down that loud voice in my head, accept that this is where I was and just share the song with this mind blowing video made by Kristian Mantalvanos. He had the vision for it and I feel he glued perfectly the message of the tune with the video. It's always great to work with such a talented and professional man who's open to experiment, lead and create! Thank you brother :)
That's it! I am at this point in my life where I'm not judging my work as a perfectionist anymore but as an artist that is doing his thing, enjoying the process and the song most importantly rather than thinking to get the perfect take or banging the right note while performing the tune.
I couldn't be more grateful for this lesson and I hope you all enjoy the video with this arrangement :)
The sound was recording live in that spot, plugging my amp into the amazing Udo Roesner amp and going in a Zoom mic with 2 channels one for the guitar and one for the voice. This is the result :)
Special thanks to Cosmin Andrei Paraschiv to equalize the sound !
