In this episode, we’re continuing our journey through the Fall of Númenor by exploring Sauron’s full scale invasion of Eriador and the subsequent counterattack of the Númenoreans.

When we left off, things were looking pretty dire for the Elves of Eriador against the army of Sauron. In this chapter, we’ll continue our exploration of Sauron’s War Against The Elves, or The War of the Three Rings, as I also refer to it.

The chapters we’ll be looking at are:
- 1699 Sauron overruns Eriador
- 1700 Tar-Minastir sends a great navy from Númenor to Lindon. Sauron Is Defeated.

I liked the mentions of Eregion during the last 2 episodes but am frustrated we hear so little about a place that is potentially as significant as Gondolin in the LOTR mythos. I wonder why Tolkien doesn’t take opportunity for the fellowship to pass the ruins of Eregion when they pass south from Rivendell to the pass at Moria. Does anyone know what state Eregion is in by end of 4rd age at where else we can find descriptions of how it was before the fall?

Gundabad was overrun in 1697. SA not Moria.
