I like how he didnt even fully open up the edge on the last cut but it somehow gained almost half an inch of clearance 🤣

I had to watch twice. The circle didnt get bigger. The damn piece shrunk!

Trick is cutting 1/4 away from outside of your trace and also make sure your tabs on the collar are bent slightly inwards.
Works 60% of the time, everytime

I love those snips, they come as a three set. I used one for 8 hours straight and the spring snapped.

The Hvac company i used to work for had a great solution to this. They made collars that were adjustable, depending on how i tacked them together, that went between the two pieces. Never had a single one that i couldn't get to work for the two years i worked there.

I can appreciate that he even has the right pair of snips for the job. Midwest makes the best for sure.

Tips from Installer:
Shrink the collar one 1/2 or 1/4 inch smaller, dont use the tab unless your gonna use damper.(easier with flex.
Use a marker to outline the fingers not the crimped ends.
Cut at most 1/8-1/4 inch outside the marked line.
Turbo Shears are cheap! Cuts the job time in half and save your hand strength for beating the meat later.
Sidenote, there no insulation on that plenum, lol
