Everyone think this is a joke, but I assure you it is not.

This is a multi-stage heating and cooling unit designed to supply air at a specific discharge temperature with an operational mode for dehumidification. During dehumidification, the coil needs to operate at full capacity and the heat is energized to compensate for the additional cooling provided.

What the tech did is check the gas line to ensure there is gas flowing to the unit. Upon confirming that gas is flowing, the issue is thus not that the heat is working improperly but rather that the cooling is working improperly and the space is becoming overheated as a result. Knowing the tonnage of the unit, he is able to quickly prescribe the proper amount of freon needed for the system to operate properly once more.

As a hvac tech all I can say is he touched the gas pipe and says it’s out of Freon to make it start heating right again lol 😂 and 4 lbs of Freon lol 😂 damn son that’s a bad leak you sure you wanna just pump 4 more pounds in there maybe it’s not working cause it’s froze up like a chunk of ice cause it’s got no Freon lol 😂. Haha I just can’t with this one hahaha too funny

Freon is directly related to heating. That’s day one hvac. I actually just have them inject the Freon directly into my flame rod. 👌

HVAC techs should have a minimum of schooling, certification, WRITTEN licensing and on-going education requirements. I have met more backyard mechanics that sell themselves as qualified technicians.
