Thanks for letting me know about the left-sided audio, I promise it was no pun intended! 😁Not sure what got messed up during the recording, plus me being sick didn't catch the difference, but I will make sure to fix it for next time. Enjoy! 👩🏽‍🔬⚛🎧

Yes, a detailed video about TMI from our Greek Goddess physicist would be nice.

Love the cheeky mention of Germany there, very well played. I'm excited by the TMI news, it's fantastic that they're planning to bring it back online. Would also love to see you do a video on the TMI incident as well.

I am a retired Electrical Engineer, I spent the 1970's and first half of the 1980's designing and building Nuclear Power Stations. When I started, I truly felt I was doing something very good for mankind. I have always felt Nuclear is an excellent source of electrical power, the power plants use a relatively small amount of fuel to generate a very large amount of energy. There are no emissions and if maintained they are extremely reliable. However, when something goes wrong the consequences can be large. In the late 1970's there was a movie called "China Syndrome" that was released a few days before the Three Mile Island incident. A few years later Chernobyl happened. The reputation of Nuclear Energy was so damaged that I had to lie about my career due to the hatred I received. In 1985, I decided to make a career change and never looked back. People need to understand that any source of energy has some form of negative environmental impact. I suspect someday people will need to come to grips with environmental harm caused by solar and wind power generation. Maybe some day Nuclear energy will stage a comeback, though after my experience i think it unlikely. Sorry for the long rant!

I, for one, would like very much for you to post a video on the details of the 3 mile island disaster

1. Seems like a win - win, unless I am missing something.
2. A video w more details on TMI mishap would be appreciated.

Minor correction on TMI-2, the LOCA was caused by a valve getting stuck open causing the coolant to drain AND the readout on the pressurizer caused the operators to stop adding water to the core. That lead to the core becoming uncovered and the story picks back up from there.

Thank you Elina for the elaborate explanation about the three mile island!

What I think is we need more Elinas and more nuclear power plants. 😊

Yes, I would be interested in a video on what happened in the 3 mile accident.

My anti-nuclear sentiments evolved in the 1970s, when the problem of waste storage for thousands of years was a big issue. I have since learned (at this site) of the possibility of reprocessing spent fuel in order to get further use out of it -- for as many iterations as it takes to render the remainder negligible. Assuming I understand that process (I think it's called "breeding"), will the revitalized TMI plant produce waste that can reused?

In a time when it's a constant barrage of news about big tech doing lamentable things, this is a very nice move. Unfortunately, I can't help but think that Microsoft and their competition wouldn't be such terrible power hogs if they hadn't migrated all their software into web-based services rather than sticking with stand-alone software copies. Thanks for the information, Elina!

Thanks for the rundown on this.

Recently, there was an article that they were thinking of testing an SMR at the largest coal plant in Nebraska (Gerald Gentleman Station). I've seen lots of articles stating that SMRs can be integrated into existing coal plant infrastructure, but I'm unclear on what parts and how. Have you seen anything about these type of conversions?

Smart thinking microsoft, if only more commonsense approaches like this were adopted by other countries and governments.

Ingredient list.
1. Micro$oft
2. 3 Miles island reactors decommission and partly damaged.
3. DEI version of AI.
What could possibly go wrong🤔

BTW, I live about 10 km from Three Mile Island. It never bothered me when it was running. It helped that I was friends with one of the senior safety officers there. He was very reassuring.
