For me the most important thing is the cup size. I too have larger ears so I think the Bose is the one for me. The differences in sound quality are minimal. An uncomfortable pair of headphones is useless, even if they sound great.

As someone who has owned both 1000XM4s and 5s, I think it's important to mention some of the minor but still noticeble differences. You lose foldability with the 1000XM5s, but the 4s had a really harsh operating voice(?) and indication sound effects. As someone with sensitive ears, the gentler voice and sounds made a world of a difference for me each time I turned the headphones on. That being said, it would be nice if Bose reviews addressed how exactly the device tells you it's at low battery and if it shouts at you when you turn it on/off.

The overtones and tonal characteristics of music and instruments definitely feel more colorful and slightly flashier on the Bose Qc Ultra.

Please add to your tests more noise profiles, e.g. airplane, commute, road, etc. Only caffe noise is not enough.

Yes, ANC is #1 with me. And durability is #2; I am active and I sleep while wearing headphones... Sennheiser in your other video shows not only a 60-hour battery!!! But, a 60-hour battery should give twice the lifespan over XM5's and even more than QC Ultra. ANC and durability means I bought QC Ultra$$$ Even though XM4's are -- only $228 now online. Who wouldn't pay a couple hundred more for better sleep? Thank you.

Bose fits my ears better, too! Bose has a great angled driver.

XM5 is better, i had a pair of Xm4s and wanted to upgrade. I got the Bose QC ultra. They were comfortable. But the bass wasn’t as punchy as the xm4 and the highs were abit shrilly. The noise cancelation, was worse than the Xm4, i walk daily. I noticed right away on the first walk i could hear the cars passing by much more i could hear people talking behind me something i never would notice with the XM4. I retuned the Bose after 3 days got the XM5 and wow way less car noise when the pass even better than the XM4. Don’t by the hype these QC ultra are. Just all marketing. Last point, the touch volume control suck massively. And double click to skip forward was more admin than needed, xm5 touch controls far easier.

The song part distinctly shows xm4 is a bargain since rich sound quality and really good bass.
Xm5 and Bose both has lack of bass and sounds cheaper imo.
Bose was always this way thats why i went XM3 over 700 back in the days.
Seems like Sony made a wrong turn with XM5 sadly 🥶
There is no reason for me to wear this type of headphones if you dont get a distinct bass and in terms of nc there is not a big difference to sacrifice the music quality.

I have the XM5 and got the Bose ultra because of comfort and personally I like the anc better. Also the XM5s get super uncomfortable real fast and makes my ears hurt after about 15 minutes of use.

this Video left me more confused...i am big for noise canceling and sony mic is the best i love bass, but i do like bose folds up connect to other device, and high pitch clear....Idk which to go for!
