Magical midsummer first solo wild camp

H comes a crocker on the Glasson arm locks so I go off to do a solstice wild camp by myself....with some trepidation.

I love being alone. I've taken 14 long distance walks with a British group. Typically, I walked ahead of the group so that I had total silence and could listen to the birds and the wind. When I came to a crossing, I would turn around and the leader would signal which way I should continue. This way, I did not have to listen to the others talking and blocking out the sounds of nature. On one trip from Pisa to Sienna, about 50 miles, we stayed in hotel while luggage was transported to the next hotel. Since I am a New Yorker, practicing using the woods for a toilet was never an option. So, on my very first attempt, I didn't do very well and returned to the group with a drenched pair of trousers. I was the talk of the town. I might add, I never made the attempt again, although I did continue long distance walking. 13 of them were in England and Wales, and just the one in Italy. Admire that you would spend solo time. Sometimes it's very scary to be that alone in such an open space. Best to you, Jane, Philadelphia

What a beautiful spot to celebrate midsomer, Fran. I live just a few degrees above the equator, so I don't get to experience long days and short nights. Glad to see Henry was feeling better towards the end. I wish you both a lovely summer.
