Familiar as I am with mics for singing, when Earthworks sent me their Icon Pro XLR to review, my first thoughts were, am I going to work with this in my usual way? I decided to modify my approach, and to that end, invite you to suggest any pertinent tests.

Nicely done. My personal opinion is that a microphone at this price point would, in an ideal world, be very useful as an all-rounder. It is so darned cute that podcasters might be willing to give up a little in some areas. I confess that I want one for the looks as well as for what I hear on your voice already. :) Looking forward to your full review!

I have seen that some broadcasters use condenser mics, but as I understand it, dynamic mics are more common, because there can be some extraneous sound in broadcast studios.
The Icon Pro, I believe, is a condenser mic, so probably the obvious question is whether or not it is actually suitable for use in a broadcast environment, regardless of how well it reproduces the broadcaster's voice.
P.S. It sounds pretty smooth.

Your criteria sounds on the mark. Rejection is still important with a mic like this, but for lower volume external sources placed opposite the mic. Handling noise probably the least important. Price is something most people will be wondering about.
