After said convention, please, Please, PLEASE consider going Gary Johnson in the general. why young people love Ron Paul. Its quite simple, I'm in college right now and I've grown with the majority of my life living in a country that is participating in unnecessary wars overseas. Upon this, government has tried passing numerous laws that infringe on my rights and freedoms that are promised to me in the constitution such as NDAA, sopa, cisos to note the recent ones. Young people are tired of these wars and tired of government increasingly infringing on our freedoms.

The problem is that harsher penalties merely ups the stakes--it won't "greatly reduce it" as you think it will. Decriminalization and legalization will remove the shadows that pushers hide behind, and allow us as a society to better deal with the underlying causes of the drug problem, instead of merely treating the symptoms.

This video is 100% correct with regards to Ron Paul's appeal. I do take issue with his ideas regarding foreign policy, but that's a separate discussion.

Dr. Paul will not become president in 2012, but one day libertarian philosophies will become the norm again and Dr. Paul will end up becoming a cultural and historical icon. The American public in general is not ready for libertarianism yet, and it'll take one or two more massive crashes to start really changing people's minds.
