Honestly Normani would have been more successful and could’ve possibly matched Camila’s success, if she was more consistent with her music after Motivation.
I was truly excited for her, but sadly we still got no album or music.

I think Fifth Harmony in general deserved a lot better. The fact that Ally stated years later, that she didn’t enjoy her time in the group, just says a lot. And of course Lauren has been pretty outspoken about management, Dinah felt her identity was being taken from her, that whole situation with Normani and Camila’s fans, and Camila being pitted against the girls.
If they do reunite, I hope they do it on their terms, with no one manipulating them.

I feel like a group like 5H, songs with a more kpop structure makes more sense. Someone who opens the songs, someone who sings the pre-chorus, someone who sings the bridge, someone who sings the chorus. And then switch up depending on the song. That would allow each member to shine individually on each song.

Little Mix is good example of how each vocals should be shared

It's weird because I wonder what the dynamic and the present day would be like if they were all treated like she was in the group....

My god the part about Dinah not getting songs is so sad, I heard their last album and was shocked at how nice her voice was!!

I think at first a lot of the attention was placed on Lauren. Lauren being viewed as the member with the most stand out look, and her distinctive voice.

that label pushed camila so much and the fact that there was no lead singer but somehow there’s multiple songs where a whole member doesn’t sing is insane. camila harmonizing with herself on so many songs. you have powerhouses like dinah and ally in the group but don’t showcase it. it was also really shady how camila was allowed to put out commercially pushed solo music while still in the group. when the girls weren’t allowed to do that except some covers and small collabs. while none of this is camila’s fault, i think she really fed into. she always separated herself from the group. if there was a fifth harmony event, a lot of times camila wouldn’t even be there

Camila’s hunger for the spotlight was just a bit greater than the other girls. Besides Normani, the stage energy was a hit or miss in their performances. But even though Normani was consistent on stage, her music wasn’t. And this separates artists from performers. Camila wasn’t afraid of mediocrity, she just wanted to produce a product. Is her music the best? No, But I’ve seen an improvement in her writing.

this may just be me, but i never got into camila because of how much she was pushed during her time in the group. like the lack of the other girls voices/presence kind of made me seek them out more. i hate that the girls all hated their time in the group though and i was genuinely so happy that normani was proving to have a very successful solo career. i still think she can achieve great things and wish the best for her and all the girls!

It’s sad because they were all talented it just seemed like X factor just forced them together because they didn’t know who to eliminate. I’ve never seen a group with less group chemistry in a while, aside from maybe the Pussycat Dolls..

Normani could've had a chance to overshadow her or at least go toe to toe with her if RCA wasn't such a shit label.

camila was also the most relatable member of the group by far, to their target audience. it isn’t all about the vocals. camila had that awkward, quirky and bubbly personality, and was also open about how much of a nerd she was and how she was obsessed with one direction and ed sheeran. the other members were much more mature and didn’t relate to the audience as much. labels like when you stand out, and camila just did. having star quality is much much more than just vocals and music, the label is essentially marketing a product when it comes to groups (as bad as it sounds but it’s true) and you have to fit the bill and it just so happened that camila checked off every mark for what a label wants in a star. that’s why they ultimately chose her and helped her succeed. it may be messed up but it’s just the reality of the industry

just an observation but it’s crazy to see how much one person from the same group can have #1 hits, platinum records, worldwide success and yet the other are unknown to the public.

If you watch and live performance of them in tour, you can see why she was the star. She had the best and consistent live vocals, connected with the crowd, high energy, etc.

That's the power of having a unique vocal tone. It sets you apart which in itself is a good foundation for a solo career. The fact that she knew the right people and had good pop sensibilities, at least during her debut album era and the beginning part of her messy sophomore album era, helped her distance herself from the group even more.

This tale of the arguably not most vocally talented member making it big solo has happened several times now, and to their credit, it's mostly because of their guts and savvy to leave a constricting environment, work hella hard and defy public expectation. Examples include Geri from the Spice Girls, Justin from *NSYNC, Cheryl from Girls Aloud, Robbie of Take That, Rachel from S Club 7, etc.

She was not even the most talented but she was pushed the most

Camila is like Nayeon from twice. They get more lines because their voices suits the songs thats made for the group and it makes you (interested in the song) or atleast give it a listen.
Camila has a unique tone and the way she changes certain parts of a song is really *refreshing* and interesting

i think camila just had really good work ethic and a strong passion for music, they were so young and their dreams were coming true and that comes with pressure as well and i think camila prob had diff mindset like she was willing to take risks and fail whereas for example normani is afraid of that and valued perfection. that’s the biggest takeaway in a career like that if you have the opportunity you gotta shoot high and camila took the leap and it worked very well for her
