Is CGC Grading Harder? Unboxing Silver & Bronze Key Comic Books

In this video I share with you all the rest of my CGC submission. While the grades I got were decent I was hoping for a bit higher in some instances - it makes me wonder if CGC is grading harder than they were last year when I got much higher grades for similar types of books. I also talk about one comic book that I think they flat out got wrong - this will definitely be a resubmission on my part.

FF 112 looks really good. I'd resubmit, too, with a note, "Make it make sense."

If that GSX 1 could receive a 9.8 that Ff 112 deserves a 9.8 as well. That book is flawless.

CGC/slabbed comic books are not listed in the comic book price guide and are therefore the same price as non-cgc graded comic books.

I can see grading new modern books a little harsher, But some of the older book grading is ridiculous.

I understand Swag. Last year I submitted a copy of Fantastic Four 259 for my personal collection. The book has no visible flaws. It is an easy NM/MT 9.8 condition book. CGC gave it a grade of 9.0.

The comment of if the grader was having a bad day makes my eyes roll. It is what it -Mariner # 8 is like the FF nice books. Be happy!

I try and stick to aiming for the minimum grade I go for align with the first digit of the decade it is most acknowledged from. Golden: 4-5.0 Silver: 6-7.0 bronze: 7-8.0 copper/modern: 9.0

I just received an 8 book modern fast track submission back and 5 of the books have severely warped inner wells! I have video of the unboxing posted on my channel! CGC has been aware of this issue and is still using the warped inner wells! My books look terrible in the slabs!

When you’re dealing with Blackstone Grading formerly known as CGC they aren’t interested in giving extra attention to obvious near mint comics like your FF 112.

Sent in an ASM 300 Direct Edition, flawless condition. Came back an 8.0. Cracked, checked for flaws, and resubmitted got a 9.8 on second look without a re-press. Explain that.

CGC for resale only. Otherwise simply protect and handle your raw copies with care and don’t waste your money.

A dealer sent in a NM/M Uncanny X-Men 256, came back 9.2.
Contacted CGC, their response was, well 3 people looked at it. But if you buy a membership and resubmit, I will credit you $40.
I agree no consistency, as two other Uncanny X-Men from the same era were 9.6. All 3 books look the same.
I've lost faith in CGC.

They’re not grading harder - simply more inconsistent than ever. Grading is not subjective - it’s either accurate or inaccurate.

I actually had an FF 112 PGX 8.5. I cracked it out and sent it in to CGC and it came back a 9.2 with white pages.
I was amazed, but very happy. Fantastic Four 112 is one of my top ten favorite covers, and IMO the quintessential Hulk / Thing fight.

I have a stack of PC books I’ve been wanting to submit to CGC, but from what I’ve been seeing going on I think I’ll be waiting a while to send any of them in.

I don't know if they are grading harder.. ..maybe a bit.. but I do know their consistency is all out of wack. I'm starting to think they are taking your stack of books you send in and only compare them to each other and not by their CGC handbook. The best book in your stack gets a 9.8 and the rest 9.4s hahahahah
