Ingredients List
2 cups Freshly Grated Coconut
1 cup Sugar
1/2 cup milk
1/4 tsp Cardamom Powder
2 tbsp Oil (or ghee for richer flavor)
Cooking Procedure
Preparing the Coconut Mixture:
In a pan, heat 2 tbsp oil (or ghee if using) over medium heat.
Add 2 cups of freshly grated coconut and sauté for 2-3 minutes until it becomes fragrant and slightly golden.
Adding Sugar:
Gradually add 1 cup of sugar to the sautéed coconut and 1/2 cup milk
Mix well and continue to cook on medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely and the mixture starts to thicken.
Flavoring with Cardamom:
Add 1/4 tsp of cardamom powder to the mixture and stir well.
Continue to cook until the mixture thickens further and starts to leave the sides of the pan.
Setting the Burfi:
Grease a tray or plate with a little oil or ghee.
Pour the thickened coconut mixture into the tray and spread it evenly.
Allow it to cool slightly, then cut into desired shapes (squares or diamonds).
