Questions to ask on the first date - Christian dating advice

The Bible instructs us to "guard our hearts" and one great way to do that while dating is by asking intentional questions. Too often we can be reluctant to dive in deep and then we end up paying the price for it in the long run. We hope that these questions help you to get to know the people you are interested in better so that you can determine whether or not you are compatible.

Me and my husband ask tough questions when we had our first Bible study date by ourselves away from the Bible study group. I totally disagree with this. I’m agnostic and my partner is a lifelong devout Christian. I’m extremely knowledgeable about the Bible and Christianity and we have a really incredible relationship. You don’t have to have someone who is on the same page as you spiritually. You will always be learning and growing, even in your spiritual journey. It’s mind blowing to see two modern humans encourage other Christian’s to stay away from any partner who even has “skepticism” about the Bible. We are all here and we are all learning… if you want to take the Bible as the concrete rule of your belief system, good for you, but I can guarantee this advice encourages many unhappy relationships to procure and prevents the development of some really good ones. To hear you all say “if they’re not on the exact same page as you spiritually, you all are not compatible” is such the typical know it all / judgemental Christian attitude. It’s funny how human Christians are so hyper fixated on how other humans have told them to worship and obey god that they ignore or are ignorant to the excluded gospels, the many translations, the scholarly criticism of the KJV Bible. To act like you as a human, KNOW exactly how others should move in accordance to god, is a LIE.

Considering you all only were together 5 weeks before getting married tells me everything I already need to know about the thought you all put into your own relationship.
