Moats provide a company with pricing power. In The Elon Musk Mission, we list and describe 21 Moats that help Tesla lead in the businesses that they are pursuing. Panasonic screwed the Pooch. They could have been an exclusive supplier to Tesla. The batteries are a large percentage of the cost of an EV. There are more car companies than Battery companies. The few Battery companies that get it will do very well. Long term most of the commodities needed to produce batteries will come from recycled batteries. Tesla needs to make batteries to keep costs under control.

Does tesla manufacture the 4680 batteries or they bought from BYD or Panasonic.
Recently, there is a news of 1000 4680, where i had thought 4680 was there for quite some months. Or am if I wrong.

Thanks for the video. I have a question regarding Tesla's energy side. How do you see Tesla regenerate revenue from mega packs? I have hard time thinking about this besides providing service maintenance only. Thanks.

Take a look at how many large battery factories are being/have been built in China. Legacy auto is likely going to have to buy from China because they did not have the foresight to sign purchase agreements far enough in advance to get battery companies to expand in time to meet future demand.

Chinese companies have seen the opportunity. Several hundred EV companies have started producing EVs, started years ago. Other companies have seen the coming demand for batteries. In the West established companies have largely not allowed themselves to see the coming technology shift and failed to prepare.

LFP doesn't accelerate enough to be worth it. Need NMC power takeoff. Id like to see a real comparison. LFP sounds like a Walmart kart to me, not impressed.

Tesla isn’t a moat cause Elon made all of his electric car patents free for other manufacturers to use

It produces more carbon waste to produce an electric car than a gas car but in the long run on the road it would produce less exhaust than gas cars except for 90% of the electricity made in America is made from coal :( so gas cars still produce pollution…
