im american, and i can promise you that is not what meatloaf looks like. that looked like the worst bologna I've ever seen. meatloof is ground beef in the shape of a loaf

The aptly named chicken-fried steak is a dish that consists of steak fried in the same manner as fried chicken. The meat is coated with a seasoned flour mixture, then deep-fried to crispy perfection. A Southern favorite, chicken-fried steak is actually very similar to Wiener schnitzel (an iconic Austrian dish of breaded and fried veal).

The proper explanation of Meatloaf is, Imagine a meatball, but instead of making the mix into balls it's packed in a loaf pan, and usually toped with a tomato glaze. It became popular during the great depression because it combines ground beef and breadcrumbs, plus available vegetables.
As for Chicken Fried Steak, it was created by German immigrants to texas who on realizing they couldn't get veal to make Wienerschnitzel so they came up with techniques to make the recipees work with more mature cuts of beef. The name is because Americans mostly only breaded chicken.

Chicken Fried Steak (also called Country Fried Steak) is, in fact, steak. It's called "chicken fried" because it's coated in the same batter as chicken and fried in the same manner.

THAT WAS NOT OUR MEATLOAF. I protest. I object. Also - the white creamy clam chowder with potatoes is the “New England” or “Boston” clam chowder. There’s also the “Manhattan” clam chowder, which is tomato based. There’s also a broth-based clam chowder that is the “Rhode Island” clam chowder.

The meat loaf that I grew up with was ground beef mixed with diced inion, diced bell peppers, bread crumbs, ground pepper an egg and ketchup. Mixed together and put into a greased bread pan then baked.

The US currently has 90 million acres of corn fields, the UK is roughly 60 million acres in size.

Clam Chowder is pretty much a creamy potato soup with clams in it.

Clam chowder, boys, has chunks of potatoes in it and it has a creamy (white) broth or soup. If you like potato soup, you'll likely be okay with clam chowder.

Our love of corn comes from the fact that it saved us. We used it in multiple ways. From toys for children to food and even fuel. Thanks to the natives for sharing their knowledge of corn. Without them and it our colonies may not have survived.

I've eaten a lot of meatloaf, but none of it was anything like that. To me, meatloaf is ground beef, eggs, oatmeal, and catchup. mix them together and bake.

Ok, Lewis, I'm going to be honest with you, but what Laurence is showing as "Meatloaf", isn't what typically comes to mind whenever someone says that they're making Meatloaf for dinner.

That looks more like the meat used in cold cut sandwiches, whereas Meatloaf is primarily made with ground beef, or hamburger meat, as some people call it

Casseroles are really popular here.
1. Tuna noodle casserole (if done well)

2. Chicken, broccoli and cheddar casserole

3. Chicken salad, egg salad or tuna salad sandwiches. (Like potato salad, coleslaw and macaroni salad, these are mayo based. They are used as spreads on croissants, wraps, toast or just plain bread.)

4. Deviled eggs (I like mine curried)

5. Carrot cake

6. White chicken chili

7. Banana cream pie

8. Scalloped potatoes

9. Sloppy joes

10. Breakfast burrito

11. B.L.T.

Husband is from Maine, clam chowder, clams, clam broth, cream, butter, milk. celery, potato (optional), bay leaf, thyme. S & P. Other states will put in salt pork or bacon, onions, etc.
