In this story about the next morning over coffee that discussion triggered a memory. Back in 2002, I was asked to join a man and his brother as they set up the confrontation of that brother's wife and her AP in a swanky downtown Atlanta Hotel. Basically, I was asked to be there to help protect the wife and the AP from the brother. Because the AP opened the door the confrontation happened in the room a large suite. Yes, I had to dance keeping the brother off the AP, and over time things calmed down so they could talk. The wife said the same things in this story. It was just s*x and meant nothing to her. She never stopped loving him. Then the brother after calming down looked at her and said the words that were the end of their marriage. You might have loved me, but you disrespected me. Then reached into his pocket and brought out the medical report of his STD. This was how he discovered she was a slot. After throwing the paper at her he turned and exited the room followed by my friend and I. The love birds did not follow us out. To this day I have no idea what happened to either of them that night. I just know about a month later the AP's wife had him served on his job. A job that required a security clearance and management saw it. The AP did not lose his job, but he did lose his security clearance and had to leave that dept, losing almost a full third of his income as well. The wife was served at her job several days later. She was a Delta Flight Attendant based out of Atlanta. She was served according to what I was told very near the TSA checkpoint as she was headed to the gate. This brother at the time was a Naval Officer and Aviator. He is today a 2-star Admiral happily remarried and the father of 3 children. The ex he lost touch with many years ago it was easy because they had no kids together.

I get why OP had AP pay rent/car payments for OP's ex-wife, and it was strategically smart not outing them to company so as to get the both of them fired because then OP would probably have to pay alimony. It's just sad AP's wife has to live with a serial cheater not knowing the truth about him!!!

When temptation and tingles hit a woman if they are not strong enough in commitment and love yes affairs can happen. And need dealt with appropriately. If you have respect for yourself and a spine. Everyone that loves their cheating wife or girlfriend has to deal with it their own way not ours. It is difficult. Depends on many, many things. How long it went on with, how many times, what happened, who with, where it happened. Doesn’t ever make it right but knowing helps you decide how to act in your actions. Scorched earth, walk away, but always inform all involved so the truth is know. Hold your head high and rebuild your life one day at a time. Never stay for kids. Remorse and hard work with therapy and marriage counseling seldom works as YOU NEVER TRUST AGAIN FULLY AND NEVER FORGET.

Very well articulated story that shares the heartbreak and consequences that betrayal shows. It is true you do not get over it, but you learn to live with the feelings betrayal leaves you with. The answer is easy, first someone shows them something that makes them seem special, tells them what they want to hear, shows them how they will make them feel special.
Unfortunately this works easily because women’s brains work differently from men’s brains and they don’t ever think about the consequences.
When they say it was just zex, they are not telling the truth, for women they have to feel a emotional connection with the partner and that’s were the affair fog comes from.
This is why marriage is going down hill fast and divorce is becoming the norm.
In the end you have to ask yourself “ is marriage really worth it “?

They say that they don’t know why they adulterate. Answer is simple, 1. She is a sinner with no moral compass. 2. She had no fear. Fear and/or jealousy will control a woman. Plus she allowed herself to be alone with a man other than her husband. It is also interesting that women now claim they want a tall man to defend them. See, they will cheat on them too. I think people who have affairs are narcisitic she/he thinks they deserve extra special experiences and new lovers but in the end they lose their support systen. Narcisistic folks seens to be uncapable of self reflection, too much alcohol or self absorption? The difference is men do it too except most women forgive and move on.
