On November 13, 2008 the Tea Fire began. Sundowner winds gusting up to 70 miles per hour rapidly expanded the blaze. When the fire was fully contained days later it had destroyed 210 homes in the foothills of Montecito and Santa Barbara. In this month's Aware and Prepare PSA Campaign, two Tea Fire survivors give their harrowing accounts of lessons learned during those fateful days.

The Aware and Prepare PSA campaign is the product of a partnership among Santa Barbara County Office of Emergency Management and the cities of Santa Maria, Guadalupe, Buellton, Solvang, Lompoc, Goleta, Carpinteria, and Santa Barbara.
