Reason 1 why I like Marika statues so much in ER

And then all the dlc bosses have lamps almost before their rooms or near them. Except Laurence. But we don't talk about Laurence

I feel like the stakes of Marika in ER are revolutionary
Just so convenient

Bloodbornes choice of focusing on shortcuts then just bondfires makes for so much more rewarding exploring i can't describe how i felt when i opened thet gate before cleric beast and saw my trusty lamp

Not being able to rest at lamps in the one game where you need to farm enemies fairly regularly is such a stupid decision, the lamps are definitely FromSofts worst version of the "bonfire"

bloodborne having no resting always kept me on my toes

The long boss run up is the psychological barrier you have to overcome to beat the boss. You have to do it in one grand attempt. The fear of having to do everything all over again makes the boss harder and increases the pressure

I honestly felt that with the introduction of being able to teleport between bonfires instantly in DS2 it really opened the floodgates for clearly nuch lazier map design.

Super super night and day noticiable between DS1 and even DS3.

DS1 typically had many many ways to tackle a problem between going all the way around the long way or taking some drops/taking a shortcut or progressing normally there were always many options laid out to you if you took the time. That plus the enemy placement making you have to choose what mobs you wanna pull first was always great

The point of the long boss run is that you are not ready to fight the Boss until you kill everything on the path that leads to the Boss without loosing almost none of your healing items, then you are good enought to face the Boss, the whole system is made to make you stronger and better

"Since lamps only serve has a method of traversing back to the hunter's dream it makes sense that they'd have more strategic placements"
What does that even mean? lol

I find it bad to have a checkpoint near the boss area. The paths to the boss is what makes the boss fight even better imo cause you fight a little harder knowing the path was hard as you have to go through it again when you die. Also it makes the harder boss fights much easier since you just don't have to care if you die since you respawn right next to it

This is why Stakes of Marika is goated

Returning to your ship in Jedi Fallen order can feel like a boss run with no quick travel it can take like 30 mins to just get back to your ship if you're deep in a level

I think it fits the same kinda flow as demon souls

Mistake? I don't agree with you there one bit. I've spent 700 hours with bloodborne and I feel it's very different then a boss farm speed run game. You can exploit many skips to make it "faster" or "easier" to get to bosses and it takes away from the real atmosphere the game intended for you to experience. Case and point are the dungeons, you are not meant to rush your way through. I'm happy they don't cater to people who want convenience over experience

i sometimes wonder if bloodborne isn't just the best soulsborne because of it's beauty, but rather also because of how godamn hard it is.

Two things that made bloodborne different, it had a story along with duel weapons.
