"A corpse... should be left well alone."

Ma'am, a corpse should be staying well still as it's supposed to be.

I love how gentle she is when letting go of the hunters arm.

I love that her opening cinematic tells you three things. She is sweet by nature, has a sense of dutiful honor, and that she is very cunning. She could have easily killed The Hunter then and there, but then allows your hand to go free, then participates in a duel.

Lady Maria’s whole story in general is very sad in itself. She was one of the first hunters, learning under Gehrman himself. Despite being of Cainhurst lineage, she shunned her blood magic powers and trained and became one of the greatest hunters to have ever lived by honing her technique with her Rakuyo. Then one fateful day, her and Gerhman went to the Fishing Hamlet, discovered Kos, and eventually massacred the whole village to uncover its secrets to return to Brygenwerth; including the unborn child of Kos. This led to Willem learning about the existence of the Great Ones, thus starting all the events of the game. Maria felt so disgusted in her role in all of this that she threw her beloved sword into the lake, wishing to be free of the cycle of violence and her role in all of this. She tried to do good, and help and comfort the patients experimented on by the Church, becoming the only comfort in their wretched existence. But despite how hard she tried, she couldn’t help them. And eventually, she couldn’t outrun her guilt and the suffering around her, and she took her own life. Then she became trapped in the Hunter’s Nightmare, forced to wear her Hunter Garb and wield her sword for all eternity, standing watch over the Fishing Hamlet next to the Research Hall filled with patients she couldn’t help, both her greatest sources of shame. When she finds you, she doesn’t even hate you, the only reason she fights you is because she’s so ashamed of what happened at the Fishing Hamlet and so frightened of what’s in there, that she tries to make you give up looking. She knows you’ll just return to the dream and then come back if she kills you, so she tries desperately to stop you, even delving into the blood magic she rejected for all her life just to stop you. It’s a really sad story and killing her here could easily be interpreted as you freeing her from the eternal torment of the Nightmare, having to stand watch over your greatest source of shame forever.

This is why i absolutely love Bloodborne. The nightmarish lore, the bosses, the surprising twist, the combat, the music, it's all perfection!!!!

Lady Maria is the one boss in Bloodborne who i wished had a bigger healthpool. She flies through her 3 phases so fast you miss out on some killer moves if you’re too quick.
Sister Friede is perfect in that regard, poses a real challenge in all 3 phases and gets a fresh health bar for each one.

Lady Maria is my favorite boss in this game. She just really looks so badass and beautiful at the same time.

That charged stab you did at 1:33 was perfectly timed with her stabbing herself so that it looked like your sword went right through her...nice job! You bullied her

I love her. Her sword, her attire, her voice, her personality and theme. It’s all amazing and even if she is one of the hardest bosses, that’s also what makes her one of the best’s because of the atmosphere around her and skills and powers that she’s possessed. I was there were more characters like her.

Fromsoft seems to make the most badass bosses off of woman character designs, we got Lady Maria, Sister Friede and now Malenia. Most badass and honestly probably the most difficult as well.

This moment always gives me shivers. You walk up to check out this supposed corpse. Then the person is alive and you hear this distinct voice you so clearly associate with another character. Then the camera pans to her and suddenly, you understand. THIS is the woman the Doll is based on and she's nothing like her. And seeing how your Hunter cautiously backs away, they just came to the same conclusion as you.

I love Elden Ring, but for me Bloodborne will always be my favorite.

The leadup, the lore, the fight, the music.
Easily one of the best bosses in soulsborne.

This gameplay is more satisfying to watch than no hit runs in my opinion. Gives the fights a more realistic and badass tone to them. Gracefully dodging attacks while not taking too much damage, not over spamming attacks or cheese tactics and hitting those parry's at the perfect time💯

Everytime she pulls the blades apart it always give me goosebumps

I appreciate the storytelling in the cutscene immensely. She 100% could have killed you when you first reach out for her corpse, but she knows that you'd just come back again and again forever if she did that. By kicking your ass in a "fair" duel, she stands a chance of breaking your spirit enough that you stop trying to get past her. She's worked out the only strategy that could possibly work against an opponent that doesn't stay dead.

I played Bloodborne, DS3, Sekiro and now Elden Ring and I still think BB is the better overall game out of the bunch

Man, I would love that this type of videos didn't always show us the boss getting rekekt in 3 seconds.
I do appreciate the video quality, but holy damn I wanna see the battle animation and moves that the boss has, not the boss being staggered to infinity and doing 7 attacks in his most powerful state.
Either way, I would still watch the videos because I just love bloodborne too much, 10/10.
