This is a Motormouth first look at the all-new Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness model with even more capability than the already capable Crosstrek. The 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness has a 2.5L 4-cylinder boxer engine matched to a CVT with 182 horsepower. This new model has retuned gearing with a lower final drive ratio for improved low speed climbing, up to a 40% grade and strong rear differential. It offers 9.3” of ground clearance, has a standard front skid plate, X-mode which includes modes like dirt, deep snow or mud. The Wilderness model can tow up to 3500 pounds.
Differences to the exterior from other Subaru Crosstrek models include, unique bumpers, a glare reducing hood decal, 17” wheels with Yokohama Geolander all-terrain tires, copper exterior accents and black trim, LED fog lamps and roof rails that can hold up to 700 pounds. The Crosstrek comes standard with Symmetrical all-wheel drive.
The interior comes standard with an 11.6” touchscreen with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a wireless charger and copper interior accents and stitching.
It has a starting price of $31,995 USD. Canadian pricing has not been announced yet.

Ok, 1st things 1st, we’re gonna start a go fund me to get Andrea a new mic 🤣
2nd, Subaru continues to not disappoint with quirky designs. But if I lived in the mountains and needed a reliable all wheel drive vehicle this ticks all the boxes. Hats off to Subaru for sticking with what works and with people want.

Subaru: We spend more on our booth design than the actual car.

OMG I definitely want one for weekend outings. Day trips on our bad roads in Quebec, off roading, trails and a Harmon Kardon sound system, 2.5 Boxer over 9 inches ground clearance. I predict these will be a hit like the Outback and Forester Wilderness in Canada!

Refreshing to see 17” wheels. The black cladding at the liftgate should have covered the top of the bumper.

Boy, are they "selling the dream" with that display! I'm betting 10% never see a rutted dirt road. But the "dream" is reinforced every time you turn the key.

Is this kind of Wilderness trim available in Canada?

It’s definitely a unique look, not a cookie cutter design trying to blend in. Made me think of the Toyota Tercel SR5 4WD wagon from the 80s

It's nice, but I think they put way too much plastic trimming. That stuff fades in a year or two.

Driving outback Wilderness since it launched. Love this trim😊

I really like the Wilderness trim pieces on the new Crosstrek. I always thought they looked out of place and bad on the Outback and Forester, but they fit the Crosstrek's styling.

Hi, does the Wilderness trim get upgraded brakes with the substantial increase in towing capacity?

If its 31K USD Canada is likely gonna sell it for at least 37K. The USD to Canadian conversion on cars isn't just the FX rate. US tends to get models with cheaper options because a la carte menu. Canadian vehicles often comes with certain functions and features US don't have or is non-standard that pushes CDN value of same vehilce more expensive.

Ya know, I’m not much of a Subaru fan at all. And up to now, I’ve really disliked the Wilderness models because they just go too overboard with the plastic cladding; and, on the Outback and Forester I think it looks ridiculous. But, the quirky toy-like looks that the Crosstrek already boasts, strangely look better with this new additional cladding! I hate that I love it. And the Subaru stamped in the rear bumper is neat. Thanks for giving us a short vid of this. Looking very forward to a full review closer to production.

Does not come standard with the Harmon Kardon sound system, that is part of an upgrade that gives you the sunroof and power drivers seat.
