As a German I just want to clarify that for food we typically use regular sized knives without a crossguard

Fun fact: Texas has no restrictions on length of blade that can be openly carried (Provided you don't go into school zones, and other restricted areas) You can legally, and openly carry a sword without issue.

Fun bit of history about the messer - it's designed and named that way because of guild rules. At the time it was made, swords were only made by the swordsmith guild and the knifemakers i believe weren't allowed to make a sword. So they didn't. They made a really big knife.

Needs a few tools build in. Make one side of the guards a Phillips head and the other a slot head, the nail could have a bottle opener attached. And the grip could be build like a swiss army knife.

It was invented specifically because it was legally a knife. Commoners were not allowed to have swords but they were allowed knives and that was legally a knife because of its specific construction of a single blade and the handle. So you could whip one out saying "that's not a knife, this is a knife."

JUST the choice I thought you would make! The extra hand protection, and the way the grip makes blade alignment natural, and the EASE you can get powerful cuts and thrusts in even at a lay level, makes it the perfect choice.

Got a Gustav M4D from Landskneckt Emporium and its short, stubby and badass. Its easy to use the basic skills with this.

The umbrella-cane-sword
It is an umbrella which is also secretly a sword sheath with a rapier-like blade hidden inside of it (only there's no crossguard).

Perfect if it's raining outside and you're afraid of bandits.
