Germany expands border controls to curb migration | DW News

Germany introduced tighter controls on its borders this week in a move to curb migration and cross-border crime. Passport controls have been extended to all of Germany's borders since Monday. The move has drawn protest from neighboring countries over the threat to freedom of movement and also the push-back of irregular migrants denied entry to Germany. The changes come as the debate over asylum seekers and irregular migrants becomes increasingly fractious in Germany and across Europe. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has criticized what he calls the 'heated nature' of Europe's immigration debate.

Any statements given by a UN, WHO or WEF representative (amongst others) are treated with suspicion and caution; a regrettable situation of their own making.

I'm a foreigner legally living in Germany. I don't have a say politically speaking.
But, this definitely is a welcome step

I support what Germany is now emphasizing on border control. After living for over a decade, I have seen it wasn’t the same like it used to be and feel not safe 😞

I'll never understand why the solution to ending the migration issues aren't addressed at their point of origin. Structured investment into infrastructure and humanitarian assistance with a deliberate objective. All people are proud of their heritage, giving them hope to be so with humility dignity and respect by a collective and balanced approach might initially have a cost. But the alternative is at the expense of social security cohesion and alot of heartbreak to all concerned. We really need to grow up as a species which on the surface may seem simplistic until you consider the implications of climate change, conflict etc etc etc

Asylum was there to temporarily protect individuals or a minority from persecution in their own country. This doesn't apply for most of the current cases, quite the opposite. It's the right thing to start checking who is abusing this right. The only problem is that they need to set up checks at the European borders.
