I went core box and sinister motives to start. Play with what I have then go from there. Total newbie to this.

I have enjoyed many of your videos, I really have gotten into the LCG rabbit hole over the last 2-3 years. Have Ashes Reborn, LotR LCG (Revised) and now getting into Marvel Champions.

Right now, I just bought Core, Mutant Genesis, Rogue and Storm. I plan on slowly building my collection through the Mutant Waves.

These types of games really hold my interest over other board games. Being able to theory craft a deck then spend time playing solo or coop with friends is just great!

Basically, even if you get into the game just wanting to get one specific character, you will eventually have everyone because having so many options just makes your character better. Aside from some very specific things like "if you don't want to play exactly Guardians then the Guardians box has little for you"

I only got into the game last year but it's been really fun. I do a media thread each where where I post about all the things I watch or play and rank them, and this year I had the idea to also make a post for all the things I got into over the year that don't really have an "end state" so they wouldn't normally get on the thread, and Marvel Champions was my biggest surprise and the game I spent the most time with overall having gotten into board games over the past year or so. Content like yours and VillainTheory's and NelsonAllOverCard's among others have been a great way to sort of hone my knowledge of the game overall and figure it out as I go. Thanks to all of you guys!

Good video!

From my point of view: Campaigns, then scenarios then heroes, they are the ones that are giving replayability to the game, having more heroes just gives you more tools to solve the same puzzle

Great explanation of how series releases work and how it affects characters. I love the Guardians now that I have the whole set and can play how the designers intended.

Well I got the base set for Christmas and wanted to prioritise more villains as I mostly play solo (either true solo or two handed) and I want to have a variety of encounters, post Christmas I managed to sell a reasonable quality "Unlimited Base Set Charizard" So using the "Whats on sale/ebay" strategy managed to get all the expansions bar Sinister Motives (I want it but it's hard to find at a good price and let's be honest I have enough to keep me going) I am playing through campaigns etc two handed with pre-con decks to get a feel for the game and each hero then I plan to start looking at expanding the cards to help the heroes I really like. I will eventually get everything cos I'm a hoarder but that could take a while.

Your videos have been great for me as I am finding my feet (and getting killed by Ultron A LOT) and your playthroughs give me some idea what I am doing wrong sometimes. For example when I first did the Sabretooth scenario I rushed rescuing the Senator and then really struggled to finish off the villain before something went wrong. Got beaten so many times, then I learn that playing a defence card counts as defending for Shadowcat's phased and that maybe smashing the villain as much as possible before rescuing the senator was better. Next game I won (close though with pre-cons) I then went on to win every game until Magneto and he destroyed me.

Oh and whoever gifted me the Twitch sub, thank you, unfortunately you generally stream at 1am my time so I don't get to catch many.

Thanks again!

Great guide! Wholeheartedly agree with the wave buying aspect and wonder why other buying guides don't mention that. Totally disagree with Green Goblin 😂

Remember. Spider-ham, Dr, and cable are OP. They are insanely strong.

I just bought based on who I liked the most and who appealed to me. So I started with Valkyrie, then got the sets I needed to support her. Then I moved on to the next character, and so on.

I just got into Marvel Champions recently. Wanted to pick up everything for it. I contacted Fantasy Flight to ask if Captain America and Dr. Strange were going to be reprinted. They said they didn't have any new information about it. So I had to pick them up second hand. Thankfully for a decent price.
It could be awhile before we see them and other heroes that are getting hard to find reprinted.

Nice video. If it was possible to buy Sinister Motives I would, but alas I can't spend that kind of money on a board game :(

Really helpful video. Both the overall buying thoughts but also the quick call outs of many single cards. Got the core box and mutant genesis for Christmas and plan to grab a few fave X-men like rogue. Gambit and Wolverine. I heard magneto hero might not be best to do so early on. Some local community around here playing too so looking forward to learning more as I play.

The Hood and Mojo mania are A MUST BUY.

My recommendation will always be to buy a big box to get some fun villains/modulars, THEN buy some heroes. I even bought The Hood before my first hero pack just to get some modulars.

One thing I would mention up front is that Captain America and Dr. Strange are out of print. I have not been able to find Dr. Strange and I have tried for over a year. And I got Captain America in English off Amazon but it was double the usual price.
Since I'm an all in person usually when I get into a game. I just grab whatever expansions and hero packs are on sale. After I played the core box a few times I knew I was all in and fully committed.

Seems better to do the first strategy rather than go in order in the second strategy because the Red Skull box is hard to find or expensive now along with Captain America and maybe some other older heroes so it’s much harder to achieve as of right now.

Nice video! I believe focusing in cycles is a great advice. It is closer to how Arkham and LOTR are purchased; it just makes sense.

I am interested in the web-warriors cycle as my first purchase after the Core. However, the campaign box comes with justice and protection cards, and Sp//Dr and Ham come with protection and justice as well. For deck building, wouldn’t it be weird to have such an aspect-imbalanced collection? If so, how would you complement the web warriors cycle?

So if I love all the spiderverse so I should go for the entire spider heroes before continuing? (Sinister Motives, SP//DR, Spider-ham and maybe Rise of Skull for Spider-woman?). btw I love your videos and I notice that you have cool design for some of your hero cards like Captain America. How did you get that card? is there a way to buy it?

The only real disagreement I'd have would be about pool. Pool opens up more deck building options than any box or pack in the game, and the safe pool archetype is extremely strong. The fact the entire aspect is contained in one deck means you get all the tools without having to buy multiple packs to get the tools you need to make a deck work.

I'd recommend getting a big box first, but then, probably pickup Deadpool, if nothing else for the pool aspect.
