30 years on – the ongoing fight for LGBTQI+ health equity in South Africa

South African National AIDS Council’s (SANAC) Health Advocacy Officer, Gita November reflected on the ongoing struggles faced by the LGBTQI+ community in South Africa, three decades after the end of apartheid.

Speaking at the 2024 LGBTQI+ Health and Advocacy Symposium, November emphasised the urgent need for improved access to services, not just in urban areas but also for those in rural communities, who are often overlooked.
