Slash Ft. Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators - 30 Years to Life [HD] (Lyrics) iii]; )'

From the new album "World on Fire" ! (Please Buy the album !!!)

So the story goes
This is a tale that must be told
For what could be your destiny you’ll never know

I never meant to be here
I never even tried
But I tell you now when you’re lost and downed
You come to trouble in time
It was a cold December
A wet city night
In a steel toe rage made a big mistake
Now I’ll be doing time

I was running with the order
I was running out of time
Now for me there is no quarter
I don’t wanna be here
I don’t wanna die

Serving 30 years to life
What I did I can’t deny
Now the sorrow in my heart will never fade
I remember it so well
The night I sent that boy to hell
Lord I’m sorry for the error of my ways

They sent me on a mission
Out to earn my stripes
Should've known damn well when the curbstone fell
Things would never be right

I was running with the order
I was running out of time
Now for me there is no quarter
I don’t wanna be here
How many nights I’ve cried

Serving 30 years to life
What I did I can’t deny
Now the sorrow in my heart will never fade
I remember it so well
The night I sent that boy to hell
Lord I’m sorry for the error of my ways

'cause now I know, now I know
I was wrong and I can’t let this go
I know, now I know
I am sorry, what a wretched soul
Oh, what a big mistake

(Solo)

Now I’m growing old
18 years or more to go
I waste away in this cage, I’m all alone
That’s how the story goes, this is a tale that must be told
For what could be your destiny, you’ll never know

'cause when you’re running with the order
You’re only running out of time
Now for me there is no quarter
I didn’t wanna be here
I don’t wanna die

Serving 30 years to life
What I did I can’t deny
Now the sorrow in my heart will never fade
Know it well, I know it well
But it’s too late to save myself
Lord I’m sorry for the error of my ways

So the story goes, this is a tale that must be told
The sorrow in my heart will never fade
So the story goes, this is a tale that must be told
Yes, I’m sorry for the error of my ways

Fame. It is handed to people these days. But is is a blessing to still have the ones who fought for it alive and well. Lets go!

This whole album blows away "Chinese Democracy" track for track...
You can sense the melodic sensibility behind Appetite and Use Your Illusion lies mostly in Slash - it's not just a tone similarity. Slash has his signature tone, but the chord progressions throughout the whole album stand in contrast to Axl's solo work to reveal who was really the heart of G'n'R...wow...Just like Dave and Sammy and Gary were all in Eddie Van Halen's band, so Axl was in Slash's band.
You can see why Axl wanted to tear it all down - if Slash is involved, then the music bears his signature. It explains why "Chinese Democracy' doesn't sound ANYTHING like what people really love about G'n'R - it explains why "Chinese" is just a baffling experiment with a bunch of different and amazing players, but it still seems to be missing something. And what it's missing is right here in this song and every other song on that album - Slash's sense of what makes a tune rock and roll...

I gotta say, when I listened to this album the first time and each successive time, I get a chill from the total deja vu from being out at midnight at Tower Records on Sunset on the night when "Use Your Illusion" came out - and what ties "Illusion' is Slash as well. I get the feeling from listening to this record that Slash was biding his time for a long time and wasting his time in a bottle hoping or waiting for G'n'R to somehow get back together. This is the first Slash record that really feels like he just said "FUCK IT." and decided to let it all out in full force. People who think this record sucks don't know their rock and roll from a fucking hole in the ground.
You can have all the nu-metal, death-metal, black-metal, nickelback, complainer-rock blither and it can't even hold a candle to this stuff. And why am I not surprised that Myles is the frontman for TWO of the very best rock bands in the world today...? Hearing this record and the stuff Alter Bridge is putting out gives me a thrill and real hope that rock and roll will make a real comeback in the future...

This may sound similar to paradise city because slash wrote both:). He has a style and a pattern in his guitar. A lot of pentatonic scales and similar riff combinations. Every guitarist has a particular style. That's his way to play. You can make a diffrent song just by changing his "tempo".

Why is everyone saying this sounds like Paradise City?? Only the first part of the intro does just a little bit

Killer Tune and Myles is younger, better singer than washed up Axl.

The only thing that resembles Paradise City is the drum part of the intro. Outside of that, totally different. The guitar sounds nothing like Paradise City at all.
