Iconic. Controversial. Pioneering. Katharine Hepburn was a lot of things — but, above all else, she was unconventional. So it makes perfect sense that her will would be just as unpredictable as her life and career!

It amuses me when people say that Spencer was a "devout Catholic". If true, would he have had an affair for 25 years with another woman? How "devout" is that??

Thank you for remembering Hepburn one of my favorites of all time as far as I’m concerned. She was wonderful, full of purpose and determination and boy did she filled the screen for me. I knew where she lived in Manhattan, I worked 2 blocks from her townhouse but I only went to see it once. I had promised myself and her that day that I would never again invade her privacy, instead in the spring and summer I would go to a little park that was in the neighborhood for lunch and would keep an eye out for her. I could never have approached her due to my promise but it would have been a highlight nevertheless in my life if I would have been given just a moment to have seen her in the flesh. Yes I was in love with her since I first saw her on screen, she was a good 20 years older than me by then but I’m still in love with her and shall remain so for the remainder of mine. She was someone that I wanted to emulate not in riches and fame but in her strength of will, her belief in herself and what she believed was right and wrong for her. She followed no one and danced to the beat of her own drum. What a woman!

She didn't live with Spencer Tracy in secret, the press respected them and didn't harass them about it and she out of respect, didn't attend the funeral of Spencer out of respect for his wife...

She used to go to the Hotel San Juan in Puerto Rico yearly in Winter, where I met her in around 1974 in the Lemon Tree Cafe at 3 am. I was at a formal party and had gone down from the ballroom for a snack to eat with my date. I waved and she asked in her unmistakable voice if I knew her and I responded I'm a fan! My mother is too! She was with a girlfriend and I didn't want to intrude or interrupt her meal further but I was totally starstruck. She was sooo humble!

That woman is the best in everything she ever did. She ruled what she touched.

The fact she took care of her personal employees says it all for a woman of great compassion toward those dedicated to her.
The epitome of caring and sharing!
RIP Great Lady!!!

I've only had one child, he was born in Naples Italy in April 1982. I will always remember the night I went into labor I was eating popcorn and drinking a soda at a military base watching on Golden Pond, I refused to leave until the movie ended. It was wonderful.

And she was one of the hardest actresses ever. Many people didn’t want to work with her.

I loved her because she was so outspoken and classy. It's sad that she and Spencer Tracy couldn't have gotten married. They were definitely made for each other.

Still one of my all time favorite actresses and a fellow Yankee New Englander with part Scottish ancestry! Just watched the fabulous "Lion in Winter" with the late great Irish actor Peter O'Toole! Named my first born daughter who is 46 now after my late beloved mother, Eleanor, and also named her for 'Eleanor of Aquitane", a French queen who married English King Henry and named her after Kate, the Great here, too, Katharine, both redheads as well! Mostly English/Scottish/Irish and French ancestry on my maternal side per our DNA tests, written and oral history. Thanks Grunge! BTW, her beloved older brother's death was an accident, not a suicide and he was trying out a trick they had seen in a recent show that went horribly wrong. That also took place at their aunt's home in an upstairs bedroom in Greenwich Village, NYC, not in a barn. May they rest in peace~ ♥♥

I just watched "Who's Coming to Dinner." I loved that movie. Spencer Tracy and Katherine were so cute together. I love the part that she took care of him when he was struggling with Parkinsons.

Her grandfather Sewell Hepburn was an Episcopal priest at Christ Church I.U. in Worton, Maryland - where he once served as rector. I.U. stands for Isaac Usilton - who donated the land and paid for the church to be built upon it in the mid 1700s. Katharine was my 9th cousin, 7x removed. I never met her, but greatly admired her from afar. The most appalling event in her life was to find her older brother hanging by his neck - lifeless in the barn. It was most likely a stunt gone awry. She cut him down, and ran out into the street to find a doctor. Bless all of them as they rest, awaiting the general resurrection... 🌷

Yep, I remember the movie on the golden pond as a child, starring the legendary Henry Fonda and Katharine Hepburn.

I always liked her movies. Now I learn I admire her choices in life. She was a smart and kind woman. I wish I knew how she survived so long. My dad passed at 86 from a surgery issue. I'm in my sixties and don't feel strong.
