What are some specific career moves that have worked really well for you as an INFJ?

i was an art teacher, one day I just got enough of that and opening a news paper I spotted an announce as social worker in a foster/refuge house for children and young adults. I left my salary for a pay as "stagist" enough to pay the gasoline each month, never regret that. Now five years later I'm still working as an Educator in a foundation that helps people with mental disorders.

Retired elementary teacher and currently working as a caregiver to elderly. I'm working on a curriculum for approval of our State Bd of Education that will bring awareness to toxic people and how to handle situations. This should have been taught in schools.

Thank you for your excellent videos!

I grew up thinking that if normal people had trouble with the less traveled path, then I certainly couldn’t cut it, because I was struggling to be normal. Sometimes the biggest achievements in my life come when I take a job or do something that isn’t a safe bet.

Uncanny, the way wenzes (a total stranger) can speak and resonate as if she knew me my whole life. Amazing advice, Thank you!

Move jobs is so true. I started in software dev and every six months or a year I moved and raised my salary.

This is so interesting and helpful! I always feel a little weirded out when people say that INFJ’s aren’t detail-oriented, because I’ve been told for most of my life that I’m meticulous, thorough, and very detail-oriented, so I’ve always thought of it as a strength for me. I wonder if it comes not so much from my INFJ personality traits but from my schooling (magnet school and IB program) and upbringing. I also have worked in editorial positions, but started to get restless, and I’ve started thinking about whether it could be because of that longing for a deeper, more meaningful impact.

As I’ve aged though, I have come across situations where I’ve noticed or can look back an noticed that ability to create something from nothing, to create stories, and have a vision and a way to get there. Growing up I always assumed everyone did this, but it’s so good to know that this isn’t the case, and it’s something we need to value in ourselves.

It’s also a relief to know that I’m not the only one that has felt slow at things lol, but it’s not due to a lack of intelligence but due to our process and the way we gain insight along the way.

This and all of it!!! I have noticed the INFJ sub-reddit is maxed-out with people who are dissatisfied, and all I can think is, "How did you allow it to happen, INFJ?" I have had so many awesome jobs, mostly because I sought them out or created them. If I want to do a thing, I make it happen. My personal mantra is, "If someone else has done it before, so can I. If no one else has done it before: Now is my time to SHINE!" :) Superb advice, Ma'am, and very best wishes in your business! I hope you make a million! (edited) Scratch that! I hope you make a BILLION!

I think it would be a good idea to take all five of these points, write them down, and put them in a place where I can read them over often.  This list can help me sharpen up some things that are floating in my mind.

A lot of times when I want to sit down and write a plan, this annoying little voice in my head says, "You'll never do it; you'll never do it.". But with this summer off,   it might not hurt to take some tentative notes and just see how it's going to work. I have several ideas,   and perhaps the first thing is to actually get them down on paper.  I figure there's nothing to lose. And even if the ideas Inever come to fruition, I can respect myself for at least working on them.

Maybe I'll surprise myself; maybe not.  But hey - nothing to lose.

Don't stay with a job for longer for the sake of making it look good on your resume. Stay with a job for long enough to become very good at performing the job.

As a dentist I've hated a lot of my job. Only once I realized I was an infj did I start valuing my skills and perspectives. A few of these suggestions I figured out the hard way and we love skipping failure so take this advice 😅! To make my job better I've gotten away from things that are esthetic or don't last very long and moved to things that have fewer variables and patients have fewer options so I'm not stressed the whole time about the patient's acceptance of my work. I always do my best but nothing hurts as bad as trying your hardest to heal someone and being hated for it. Love your vids, thanks!

I was a corporate engineer & PM for many yrs before it all fell apart. So I started cycling coaching on my own (the process of getting faster/stronger is my passion). Cycling training can be a bit complex and intimidating to many, and I enjoy showing people how to do it. After about a year of coaching, it became pretty apparent that cyclists generally don't like being told what to do on every single ride year after year, and (strangely) at the same time came up with a system to self-coach. It's pretty freakin cool and works! I bring together lots of abstract concepts into a methodical process that can be followed. The only problem is that I'm having trouble selling it... it is such a different concept from how the industry tackles this problem (with apps and AI). Since i haven't figured out how to monotize (though I tought a live course that went awesome!), I need to find a job again, and keep working the idea on the side until I can figure out a marketing strategy (I've been driving a school bus, but those paychecks don't cut it, lol)
I just thought I'd share, I don't know anyone else who has taken the odd approach I have to my career, but I really enjoy it (though the cash flow part is very stressful). I climbed the corporate ladder and absolutely hated it after having some terrible bosses (estj's, I'm sure if it).

I’ve just learned all this recently in my life, and so I know you’re totally right. I was an elementary teacher for 6 years, and the last year really took a toll on my mental health because I was feeling blamed for my students not growing fast enough, when there were so many factors out of my control - unhelpful parents, student behavior, diagnosed and undiagnosed learning disabilities, time constraints mixed with heightened standards, etc. I was never good enough. Now, I’m working at a library like I did in college and I feel so appreciated for my strengths.❤️

I love your channel I feel like I wake something inside of me every time I watch a video. Just want to say thank you

I don't really know what my strengths are. People say customer service, but there are plenty of people like that and it takes me so long to recharge from it that I really don't like it, especially since it's not the kind of help I really want to give to others.

I am stuck in fast food and have no idea how to get out of it when so many other jobs demand degrees I have no interest in or experience I can't get because no one in the industry is hiring without experience.

Nailed it on all fronts. I've been an artist of one type or another for 30 years. Graphic design, 3D animation, architectural rendering, product design, immersive (games/training), and currently architectural designer. Very niche spaces where I could shine because so few people can do these things well. After 30 years and several companies of my own as well as working for others and having partners, I'm moving into day trading. It seems like a 180 turn, but really INFJs make the best traders. Why? Intuition. All a chart is is peoples reactions to stimuli. Since we are so good at ready people, we are also really good at reading the charts. I've only been at it for a year, but I'm quickly approaching the day where it will become a big part of my income. Keep focusing on the tough, long term goals and you're guaranteed to succeed because so few people can see beyond tomorrow.
