Cardo Freecom X Series Review

The Cardo Freecom X Series builds upon the tried and tested Freecom series of headsets and have trickled down some of the niceties of the higher end PackTalk headsets. With JBL speakers now standard, these headsets will play loud and clear for just about any rider out there.

FREECOM 2X with JBL speakers

Com is well assembled and I'm here to give advice for very CRUCIAL part of installing Freecom and is about speakers position!
Me and my wife have same helmets in different sizes. Her is XS and mine is XL ( I have a bigger brain 😉) They are SHARK Spartan Carbon.
Helmet has pre fabricated position for speakers inside inner shell. First I fitted speakers inside her helmet and I returned padings back for her to try it and see if speakers bother her somehow. There was no bother and I stuck my finger inside to see if it's relative to her ear.
The speaker was 1.5 cm behind ear!!
I took knife and I cuted inner shell so I can move speaker forward. I did it right and speakers are on the ear spot on!!
Then I had my helmet testing with speakers positioned on pre fabricated slots. It fits PERFECT! So it means that I DID'NT HAD TO MODIFY my inner shell at all!
Conclusion:
It is CRUCIAL to test position of speakers before attaching everything! When you do that right, you will be stisfied as I am 🥳
Sound is awesome and be patient with installation!!

For existing Freecom 4 Plus owners like myself, the upgrades with the 4x are as follows:
-USB C with "fast charge"
-Bluetooth 5.2 (4 Plus uses BT 4.1)
-Auto-Reconnect

I have some issues with the info presented here:
1. It's Bluetooth 5.2 (clearly visible when in the closeup of the boxes) 1:33

2. I call BS on the universal pairing from these units. Have tried to no avail to connect to Sena users in my riding group. Never works! Software up-to-date. The only video I can find of this working is a cardo marketing vid for an older unit that has a separate Universal Pairing mode whereas the 2X has just one pairing mode.

3. Natural Voice Technology: The advantage of the 4X is that the CARDO SOFTWARE can respond to some commands ("Hey Cardo"..."). I have the 2X and use a Samsung Galaxy S10. With Bixby set to "voice wake-up", you can still initiate voice commands without pressing anything on the 2X ("Hey Bixby...") because the Mic is always listening.

4. How many riders can you connect to? 2X = You and one other rider; 4x has two channels to connect to others, to connect to 3 other people, you daisy-chain from another unit's spare channel

Got the 2x. Yes it way too expensive, but it works really well. I was going to buy cheaper alternative but was afraid it'll end up being crap and I'd have to buy another one. Decided just buy the best. Adititional nice feature, volume goes up when you speed up and goes to original volume settings when you slow down. For example when you ride on the street and then get on a highway

We bought the Freedom 4 Plus Duo pack last year and love it. Great sound (not as good as in ear buds but you can't expect that) solid connections, easy to use, simple install. I'm glad we bought them.

Only issue I've had really with mine are -
1. Even after messing with the settings in advanced audio...I have to have my music volume at MAX to be able to hear other riders I'm linked with in intercom.
2. My volume randomly turns up, like all the time....not sure why this is happening but max volume is really high (for my helmet at least) and constantly having to turn it back down is a pain.
Other than that I'm pretty happy with the system (4x).

I purchased the freecom2 duel today. installed in helmet- mic wire broke,
very easier I might add too, ordered another, just the part with the wires.

One of my emails said I needed to register my cardo for the warranty.
I searched cardo website, I searched the internet. Could NOT find anything on this subject. There is no phone on cardo website OR any contact information.

The Bluetooth version isn’t 5.0 on the freecom x models. It’s 5.2, as referenced in both manuals. Please update your video to prevent riders from being mislead

Hey dudes. I want to ask about an option called "audio multitasking". Have you ever try to communicate with pasenger while playing music or radio?
I mean, we have 2 units in 2 helmets at same motorcycle. Driver and passenger, we listen music and someone say something. What happened in this case? Is the volume of music going down and when dialogue end music come on? And all of this being automatically without pushing button or give voice command.

What set can do this? 2x? 4x? Or any cheaper?

Crazy pricing. I paid less for my dual-pack Packtalk Slim a few years ago than the basic 2X dual pack costs now. Who gets to choose what constitutes "entry level"? Don't answer, I already know.

So.. the 2X will connect (4) people that have a 2X and the 4X will connect to (16) people that have the 4X? What if there’s 6 people and (2) people have 4X but (4) have the 2X. Will everyone hear each other?

Downside is that Cardo’s parallel function is not compatible with iOS.

Okay having watched the entire thing, I have a couple questions: how's the mounting procedure compare to other brands, particularly Senna? Which is a less obtrusive system to mount? (i.e. does one significantly effect the structural integrity of the helmet more than another?)

My brother and I have been comparison shopping comms recently, but we use vastly different helmets so finding one that can fit both of us seems to be proving difficult.
