Pete Anderson | Quarantine Edition | Truetone Lounge

Although to some he may be more known for his signature model guitars, Pete Anderson is first and foremost an acclaimed Multi-Platinum and Grammy-Winning producer and guitarist. His groundbreaking production and guitar style perfectly framed Dwight Yoakam's songs, and the result was a series of commercial and critical triumphs for the two collaborators. In our interview, Anderson very kindly sits down with us to tell us his story, from sleeping in cars to the heights of his success. He also reveals how he had a huge hand in everything from the band's "look," to how he would rehearse the band until they could play the tunes in their sleep. All of the attention to detail and hard work paid off with a band that looked like stars and played like a well-oiled machine. All-in-all, a very enlightening peek at the innards of the music business from one of the all-time pros.

What a fascinating interview. Who would ever guess that the Dwight Yoakam band would have such struggles in the beginning of their career.Peter Anderson is a Great musician. Dwight Yoakam it is an amazing talent.
Personally, I was blown away when I first heard their music.

THIS was so great!~ Best interview with Pete ever! Great stories! I was a metal guy when i came upon Guitars Cadillacs in 86, and it totally turned my head. Wasnt long i had me a Tele. One of my favorite all time players. Those early Dwight albums are pure gold. Thanks for this!

Man. That has to be one of the best interviews I can remember - thank you very much for this! You barely had to prompt Pete and he laid everything out you'd ever want him to. How he learned how to play, the early days of the DY band, his approach and personality in terms of how that affects his production approach. I never figured he'd touch the end of his time with Dwight and here we are - he just candidly offers up extremely mature and reflective insight.

Again, I'm lovin the bluegrass roots of country music, and the Clarence White tele/bender mystic is deep as he was the best ever blugrass guitar picker.
I sit here now at the peak in my musicianship, performing on all BG instruments with a great bluegrass band and we own a bunch of teles, and I've got 21 good original country/bluegrass songs. You're gonna get me in trouble Zac, and I'll owe you a finding myself fee.

I could listen to Pete's stories for days ( and I think I just did). The man has a knowledge and experience that can only come from hard core practice and lots of miles. Fan since 87.

I keep saying each one of these is the best one, but I believe this one really is!! I’d always wondered what happened with Dwight. Pete was really the architect of Dwights career and it’s a shame things ended the way they did. Can’t wait for part 2.
