I remember watching Edward R. Morrow on TV in the 50's and had so much respect for him even though I was only a child. Saw the film, "Good Night and Good Luck", and thought it was excellent, brought back my childhood memories of Morrow with an added bonus of behind the scenes elements I wouldn't have completely understood as a child. Now Broadway, and I'm so happy to see it getting even more exposure, though I won't be able to see that version. I really miss the legendary newsmen, Huntley and Brinkley, the intelligence and courage of Morrow, beloved and trusted, Walter Cronkite, when news was serious and covered important issues.

And now I know why our commander in chief was tweeting about "second rate" George Clooney yesterday.

Too bad we no longer have journalists like Murrow, or media like the old CBS.

Honesty and courage in journalism is what we need so badly right now. More than ever. This play should be shown in every classroom. Of course that won't happen.

I remember clips of Murrow when I was a kid. Someone who was so respected. After the fall of McCarthyism there was a sense of what he had done for us. Thank you George! So happy you have created this.

I saw the play last Saturday night. He was good, considering it was only his fourth public performance. The story has many similarities to what is going on today. He gives a compelling performance.

"When the press held the government to account" I pray those days come back soon. We need the media to hold our leaders to account, The "press" is one of our crucial checks and balances.

Good Night and Good Luck stands among my favorite films, ever. If it wasn't such a trainwreck to go to the US right now I would have come to see it on stage in a heartbeat.

So many good stories are told with earnest work during this time. Thanks for this story … light in the dark storytelling. Thank you George Clooney. We do have to tell the truth. ❤️

If you tell the truth as you see it, you never have to remember what you said.

Former newspaper man here. Murrow is a hero of mine. Enjoyed the piece on Clooney. The 60 minutes hate here seems contrived and ridiculous.

Thank you CBS for this short video, even if its not 60 minutes long.

The press in the US isn't journalists, it's corporations. The US government isn't Trump, it's other corporations. So the idea of independent journalism is a fallacy. The battle is between corporations.

I watched Edward R. Murrow on live, black and white TV, as a kid. I remember it very well, so I don't need to see a play on it. Back then, Eric Sevareid, Walter Cronkite, and Murrow were the most trusted names in the news. They all reported from the WW2 battlefield, which probably gave them a unique perspective on how to report the truth, since they had to deal with military constraints and misinformation. And this was 10-15 years after the end of WW2, which involved every aspect of American life, despite not having the mainland directly attacked. Most of the politicians back then would not have been in any mood to put up with the BS happening over the past 40 years in Congress. But, here we are.
