Smelly washing machine ?
Q Is there something wrong with my appliance
A - no so don't waste your money on calling someone out --

there is no component inside your appliance that will cause it to smell, - the culprit or should i say culprits are a combination of
low temperature washes ,
liquid soaps
constant moist environment

this- all adds up to a nice little breeding ground for nasty smelly bacteria and soap residue.

as a a domestic appliance repair business we usually repair about 400 washing machines a month - we are increasingly encountering calls where customers are complaining about smells coming from their washer, especialy when they open the door - in some cases the smells are transferring to the clothes.

we have been looing for a proven tried and tested appliance cleaner for some time ,

we are now using affresh washer cleaner -- and can confidently state that all our customers now have a nice clean fresh smelling washers
.
Affresh stops washer odor and leaves your appliance clean and fresh
Afresh uses oxygenated cleaning action that removes the stinky smelly odor and residues that build up in you appliance

Afresh washer cleaner is the only proven product to penetrate, dissolve and remove the odor- residue from your washer, it doesn't cover up the odor -- its oxygenating actions lifts the residue from the surfaces in you washer -- allowing it to be rinsed away
Bleach will only kill odor causing bacteria leaving behind the detergent residue- affresh uses surfactant chemistry to remove the root problem , its formulated slow dissolve ,foaming tablet gets under residue, breaks it up and washes it away leaving the appliance smelling fresh and clean
How to use afresh
Simply put the tablet into the washer drum (without clothes )and put appliance on a normal cycle hot or clean washer cycle if you have one

It also helps to keep the lid open when not using your washer. Allowing the machine to air dry helps tremendously by keeping mold and mildew from growing.

yes we always leave doors ajar to allow ventilation to take place, dish washer as well, I do the same in bathrooms leaving window slighly open even during the winter months.

I'm happy with my front loader machine. I have the good habit of leaving the door open until the the drum and door is dry (takes 2 hrs), I did this with my top loader. Hence, my 6 yrr old front loader DOES NOT smell! I also wipe down my shower after each use, hence no mold or water stains there either. Instead of suing, people need to stop being so lazy & be proactive about keeping their environment clean! Its only common sense that where there is standing water, mold will follow!

The odor is caused by mildew. Keeping the lid open allows the inside of the washer to dry out. A dry surface does not promote mildew. I've owned my HE washer now for nearly three years. I bought this product. I used it once after six months. Not that the washer needed it, but just to try it out. I haven't had to use it again and my washer does not smell.

I had the same ugly smell in my machine n clothes were starting to stink, even after washing it twice.
But I fixed the odor problem with my front loading washing machine. It no longer smells n ALL the mold is dried up.
Now every time I wash a load I add about 3 gallons of water with extra detergent to every load n then add more water again when it goes into the liquid fabric softner cycle too. It's extra work for me but I don't mind it cause all my clothes come out so clean n soft n smell so good n the thing I like best is since I add more water I can add more clothes. I'm washing up to 15 blue jeans n 20 towels now. I can really stuff the tub n it all washes better with extra water n extra detergent.
This next step is very I'm done with all the washing I end it with a Bleach cycle on hot n leave Door OPEN ALL THE TIME so it ventilates. I wipe away any mold when it's still wet inside the rubber seal that's around the door n absorb what little water is left behind that rubber seal with paper towels.
N now the problem is fixed. I will continue to do this until machine breaks down or something n then I'll buy a regular washing machine that uses lots of water. Those are really the best ones to use, in my opinion.
Hope this helps cause it sure is working great for me.

Stop using liquid detergent and use only a powdered He. Liquid detergents have animal fats (such as tallow) and other fatty binders that adhere to the plastics and rubbers in all machines top load and front load. You will need to clean your machine with a cleaning product like Affresh (manufactured to specifically combat mold/odor problems by the same people that push the sell of liquid detergents) first. Then switch to powder He. Only use 2 Tablespoons at the most of any detergent and that will also help. And yes leave the door open.

Hah!  Meanwhile, back at the farm... there are lawsuits charging Whirlpool was aware of the mold problem with its Duet washers, yet did not fix the problem. Whirlpool sought to profit from the defect, instructing consumers -- only after purchase -- to regularly buy and use Affresh, a product marketed and sold by Whirlpool, to reduce the effects. Nice.

It's not weird if your trying to fix your washing machine. Whats normal to you, might be weird to everyone else.

If I wanted to watch an ad in either flip on the TV or Google/youtube search for em.
Pointless video. Just a darn AD for Affresh.

If the machines cleaned themselves like they are advertised to do, this process would NOT be needed! Nor would Affresh cleaner. HE washers are the biggest scam going!

Just get rid of your "he" washer and get a conventional top loader (before the government outlaws them) that use enough water.

If your toilet doesn't use enough water to flush and it stinks to high heaven, you wouldn't go out and buy "Toilet Freshener" so why buy washer freshener because your he machine doesn't use enough water?.
