Cooler Master X Silent Edge Platinum 850W Power Supply - LABS Test Report

The Cooler Master X Silent Edge Platinum 850 is a fully modular ATX 3.1 power supply with an 850W output, distinguished by its passive cooling system. This fanless design is made possible through a combination of high efficiency at elevated wattages and an advanced array of heat sinks and heat pipes. While this approach completely eliminates fan noise, it also introduces some trade-offs, such as increased weight and limitations on mounting orientation.

Cooler Master introduced this new lineup at Computex 2024, branding the X Silent Edge Platinum 850 as the “industry’s first fanless PSU to achieve 850W”. The unit boasts “totally silent and dustless performance” thanks to its innovative heat pipe technology.

Designed to ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1, it includes a 12V-2x6 cable, enabling it to support high-wattage GPUs with up to 600W of power. Specifically designed with the latest GPUs in mind, this power supply demonstrates impressive efficiency at high loads and excursion resiliency.

As of the publication date, it was launched at a promotional price of $399 USD, with the regular MSRP at $549 USD on the Cooler Master webstore, which is slightly higher than other Platinum power supplies but still competitively priced.

Purchases made through some store links may provide some compensation to Linus Media Group.

Now if only this or the 1100W version were actually available to buy... I've been waiting for a PSU like this ever since the RTX 4090 came to market.

That seems to be a very nicely engineered piece of hardware.
However, as a PSU nerd, I wonder what tradeoff had to be made to get a fanless PSU that fail ripple tests for only 5V and 3.3V rails.
Did they base their voltage feedback on the 12V rail alone? If so, why?

What do you think of the Corsair SF850L? is it safe

Thanks for the video. I am looking for a good quality atx power supply for mobile use that can run on 12 volt or 24 volt batteries. ( i can deal with either voltage) . Thanks

Thats flipping expensive for an 850w Platinum

So Cooler Master CAN make good PSUs!
The failure of their V SFX Gold 750 model doesn't inspire confidence in the brand though.

imo 15 years is not outstanding for a 550$ psu

Testing PSUs at 20C is kinda unrealistic in my opinion.

4 minute video, must be a pass. Or at least not a catastrophic failure.
