I had a copper IUD despite my OB trying to steer me away from it because she stated most patients end up disliking it. It was great for 8 months postpartum but when my period came back, the cramping was HORRIBLE. Not just while my period was happening, but random *debilitating* cramping throughout the month. It was very easy to take out though! I’m sure every woman is different, but this was rough for me!

To use Natural Family Planning effectively, you don't need to be predictable at all! The point of the process is to track the signs of ovulation. No matter how unpredictable your cycle is, you can very precisely tell when are you fertil. You have to check at least two fertility signs at the same time to be sure. Make sure to learn the method from a professional though.

Any advice for younger people who are interested in birth control? (17yr dating a 17yr don’t worry)

20 procent chance of getting pregnant with the coitus interruptus? Who makes these stats? No way, i do that for 25 years. Many thousands of times. I never got surprises. When i wanted conception i made it from 1 or 2 tries. It is sad that you mention the option of sterilization, it is just de-humanizing.
