Yes, paying out money from a fund that we have contributed towards since 1969 is a 'welcome boost'. It is fair as it is going to the contributors and not just OAS-GIS recipients who will also have a fair further stipend that helps people in more stringent need. The government is helping those who contributed all their working lives, plus providinga GIS lump sum payment for these who. are in further need.  

As a senior in the first group, I am very pleased, even though, of course, the $3, 200 will be taxed at tax time next April plus it will affect my OAS clawback. Yes, the CRA gives, and it takes away. It is a credit to Canada that seems to be managing for its citizens better than many other countries do. I applaud their taking of these steps.

I'm still waiting for my $3.2K ... it's now 05-18-24 & the $ were supposed to be in my bank account on 05-13-24 ... so ... where is it?

Odd ... there's nothing about this on CRA's Official Website! Nothing about it on CPP's Official Website either! Haven't found anything on it out of the LPC's website either! Strange. Let's just see what happens come tomorrow!
