There is also the tradition of kidnapping the bride. The groom has to find her.. she is often taken to a fairground or night club where people are milling around and she is hard to find.

Because the couple are already married when they have their (optional) church ceremony, there is no point in the bride's father "giving her away" and walking her down the aisle. The couple arrive at the church together and are met by the pastor at the door and escorted down the aisle or they just walk down the aisle together.
