I got hypothermia once while hiking in the snow at night. I was wrapped up in blankets and jackets, and then out of nowhere I felt hot. Threw the blanket off, took off 2 jackets, and felt comfortable in a thin shirt. Shortly after that I passed out, and 911/search and rescue was called. Obviously I was fine, but that feeling was crazy. Just instantly so hot and had to get the warm clothes off.

This happened to me when we went hiking on a -35° day. We got turned around and I started getting way too cold. We did find the trail again and started back towards the car. Luckily my husband knew what it meant when I said “hey I’m actually not that cold anymore. My feet feel kind of hot.” He swooped my up and started running. My feet were the creepiest color white. My father told me similar stories about people from his village. Up to age 25 he lived in mountain area and place was bit backwards, in bad winter only thing it could get you to nearest town were your own feets . In morning people would sometimes found dead people undressed or in position like they intended to take a rest for moment.

I almost died of hypothermia, in water. Aside from dying in your sleep this is probably the easiest way to go. You are cold and shiver (that's as bad as it gets) then start feeling really good and content but not thinking clearly. I lost my vision and then I was content with moving on seconds before being saved.
