Harikrishna was the highest finishing Indian at the World Blitz Championships 2022. He scored 13 out of 21 and also gained some rating. His finest performances came against some of the best players in the world. He beat Caruana and drew against MVL and Anish Giri. In this game he was pitted against the World Championship contender and one of the strongest players in the world Ian Nepomniachtchi. The game is very exciting with Sicilian being played and Black king stuck in the center. The end of the game is also quite heated with both players down to their last few seconds before the game was decided.

Glad he lost to Ding Liren when he was winning all the way. Karma gets you in ways you never expect.

Nepo a little out of line to call Hari dirty when he only knocked the piece over once and it was clearly accidental. Seemed like out of frustration more than anything. Also, great defense by Hari with little time

Hari is a superb player. Not only a top GM but also a very nice human being. It was indeed absolutely unintentional that he, under pressure, dropped the piece and put it back having pressed the clock first. The guy looked shocked after the short conversation at the end of the game. Both are magnificent players. Great game of chess but a forgettable ending.

If you have an issue, call the ref. Dont harrass your opponent. Very disrespectful and disappointing behavior

Firstly Hari is not a dirty player. Clearly Nepo was both very upset and frustrated with himself that he could not convert what looked like a crushing attack but Hari defended brilliantly. The incident happened at 7.59 and I genuinely believe it was just an honest mistake as by the time Hari had processed what had happened he’d already pressed the clock and then when realising what he’d done apologised immediately.

Chess is basically a war game and in war they have an expression ‘the fog of war’ - I would put this incident down to ‘the fog of blitz’:))

Nepo was very rude. He did not Shake Hari's hand, but struck it instead. Indian chess players are very gentlemen. Nepo totally disappointed me. I admire the calm of Ding Liren, Duda, Artemiev, Esipenko, Nihal, Caruana, Anand and many others.

Poor Hari... You can tell he was genuinely surprised.

Wow so rude from Nepo.... It slipped once at 7:55 (once more at 9:21 but it was on Hari's time so it doesn't matter) ... And he said he slipped it 5 times? Dude's hallucinating bcz he can't convert the position... Was thinking of supporting Nepo but changed my mind now . Supporting Ding from now on ...

For those who did not understand what happened :
Nepo : "Play more dirty next time"
Hari : I did not play dirty, its sliped.
Nepo : "No"

Just editted my answer ( My Reply If I was Hari) : Yes, will play more dirty and thats none of your business.

Context : Hari knocked the piece at 7:55 (accidently) and nepo got disturbed. From what I observed was queen d2 was a brilliant move since it closed the attacking area for white queen and this totally changed the game for Hari (his attacks starts from there).

To clear out the drama, Hari's pieces slipped 3 times in the total duration of the match. Out of which, 2 were included in his own timings, so no fault there. As for the 1 time he pressed the timer before he replaced the piece, Nepo should've immediately called the ref to settle the dispute, instead of handling the situation immaturely and like an absolute baby. As he didn't do that, it is taken that Nepo had accepted Hari's moves/blunders.

Without even becoming a world champion he has so much attitude. Imagine if he becomes a world champion.

Can't find where he dropped it 5 times in a row as Nepo claims. Hari dropped once at 7:55 which happens very often in a blitz game for which he apologised immediately. If Nepo had an issue could have called the arbiter and Hari could atmost get a warning for that. Calling a former Top 10 player a Dirty Player is uncalled for

Magnus did the correct thing to this proudy guy in lat WC match

Quite a leap to call Hari playing dirty over a single incident of a piece getting knocked over in a blitz game 😀 and to follow up with 'happened 5 times in a row', is unprofessional

Dude you can tell, that hurt Pentala. Look at how caught off guard Hari is. Hari is literally speechless. Ian could've just called an arbiter. We ALL know Nepo wouldn't have cared if he figured out how to convert his winning position. He was stuck on auto when he was winning and then Hari actually took time to calculate wtf was going on and how to get out of it. Magnus either would have called an arbiter immediately, or let it go. Anish would have laughed at the end of the draw. Ding would have remained silent with full understanding that it was unintentional. Naka would roll his eyes and call that arbiter IMMEDIATELY. Dubov wouldve mentioned it in a snarky way if asked about it, but he wouldve been more upset at himself for not converting. Ian is the only person that would neglect to call the arbiter; continue to play bc he knows he has a sizeable advantage; fail to convert the position; and then accuse the other guy of playing "DIRTY" immediately after he realizes its a draw 🤣 We're all rooting for DING now 👍🏾

Ah man, Hari is a super nice guy, def wasnt intentional. I kinda feel Ian's frustration, because technically you can't press the clock if you've knocked over pieces. If you check out the Kovelov vs Artem game, Kovelov insisted on the one hand rule to grab the win.

I believe nepo was mad because of the sloppy play on low time, in particular at 7:55 - you have to adjust the fallen pieces on your own time but this is quite common and hari apologized immediately. Also if im not wrong this only happened once so im not sure why he said it slipped 5 times, i think nepo was just upset his position was winning at some point but couldnt convert

Nepo just couldn't resist calling him a dirty hari 😂

Actually, if we are going to go by the rules, Nepo clearly “punched” the clock near the end, hitting it hard enough to move it, which goes against the rules (yes there’s a rule about that.)

I think he go frustrated that he couldn’t win, but he should have maintained his calm. His opponent did adjust the piece during his time, which is not correct, though it was clearly an accident. Nepo is right to find fault with that, but to call it dirty is stretching it.
