This whole album is a masterpiece, a commentary on the absurdities of the human species. It begins and ends with an interview of a World War I soldier who had to leave his friend on the battlefield and how it affected him. In between are observations of the directions we as a species choose to go. Not a 'commercial-friendly' album but containing stunning music and observations. Thank you for reacting to this!

This is the title song and the finale to the album of the same name.

In my honest opinion this is Roger Waters' mugnum opus, the finest work that Roger ever made.

For decades it never recieved the recognition and acclaim it deserved and only in recent years has it gained in popularity thanks to the loyal fans who'd been screaming about this album for many years.

It can be difficult to digest on the first listen as it is so full of content and criticism on the human condition and our inate ability to silently watch on as we commit attrocities and burden our own species to the point of oblivion.

Some people may not enjoy listening to the often hardcore criticism on offer, but there's no denying the top class quality of the deep and meaningful lyrics, the sublime music, and the high production value throughout.

Amused To Death is easily my favourite album, yet when i first heard it back in the 90's i really wasn't sure i liked it that much at first.
But, i kept going back it, listening to it again and again.
There was something about it that kept pulling me back in, as if there was something more to discover under the surface, and i'm really glad i did.

Now i love this album completely, it's beautiful to just lie in bed in the dark undisturbed with headphones on, i close my eyes and absorb everything this album has in all it's majesty.

An easy 10/10 album all day long.

The background talking is about a soldier who had to leave another soldier to die. How years later he saw his name in a memorial. Seeing his name gave him closure. This is kind of the point that we are caring more about material things then anything else.
