I actually won this album off of a radio station and at first didn't care for it too much only because every time they were promoting it, they would play snipers of all his hits. So I thought it was like some awesome greatest hits album not realizing it was a new album all together. It's actually a great lp with lots of good songs. Check out "Yell Help", "Hard Luck Story" and "Grow Some Funk Of Your Own". That one has some Lynyrd Skynyrd "Gimme Three Steps" type of meaning to it.

The song "Island Girl" is the reason why Elton John became my favorite singer. 1975 I was a 9 year old boy and I did not understand the lyrics because I was born in Switzerland. The radio man played this song on 31st October 1975 when I recorded the first time music on a compact cassette.

love this song. Elton was my favorite artist in the early 70"s after the beatles broke up and after Cat Stevens. Until Bruce came along.

Love this song. Was an extremely big hit when I was 18 1975. The song is about a Black Jamaican prostitution living in NYC. A Jamaican man wants to take her back to Jamaican with him and does not understand why she is so caught up in the wretched “White man’s World.” You get so caught up in the music not knowing the theme.
