"Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said Thursday in back-to-back speeches that he would hold Jewish voters responsible if he loses the Nov. 5 election, suggesting that they owe him their support because of his position on Israel and questioning the sanity of Jewish Democrats.

“The Jewish people would have a lot to do with a loss,” Trump said at a summit on fighting antisemitism in America. “It’s only because of the Democrat hold, or curse, on you.”"

Çenk, thank you so much for this wise and cogent post! I'm a Jewish American, and I'm definitely an American first. One of the things I love about the US is the fact that ancient enmities can be faced and people can reevaluate the situation. I live in Silicon Valley, and one of my favorite things is the diversity. My H, who is a software engineer, worked at a company where his working group included large contingents of both Turk and Armenian immigrants. Our next-door neighbors are Palestinian, and they've become friends of ours. Our children played together. My synagogue has been part of a Jewish-Muslim discussion group which has been in existence for 40+ years. My children had Muslim friends all through school. It's not so much that these things can work global magic, but it's a good first step to recognize the basic shared humanity when so many demonize others.

Trump has a very distorted view of cultural relations as they currently exist in the US, and he seems to be trying his best to shatter the American values that underly them.

If Trump loses, he can take accountability. His divisive, unhinged speech on non sequitor topics and his manipulative fear mongering towards and against various demographics of people is one the reasons he isn't a favorable choice among many.
