This is a fantastic comparison of these two synths. Very surprised that I came away more impressed by the Trigon in nearly every section. It somehow sounds richer, at least to my ear.

I was not expecting something this in depth with these 2 specific instruments, so that's fantastic and thanks. Anyone in the comments suggest something different, in this price range, that I've been sleeping on?

Resonance sounds hash on Muse compare to Trigon-6. I prefer the Trigon-6 where it counts. Sound. Warmer, fuller and more fun with the hands-on interface and no menus.

That "Smooth and Grit" sounded great on both of them. That might be my favorite sound

Every synth has a purpose, there's no best, because no one synth can do everything, and that'd be boring anyway. It's a subjective question, just like all music, and just an opinion. People choose what they like by the transients in the voices. It's the tiny details that lead us one direction or another. An obsession with gear though, has nothing to do with music, and becomes a collectors game, and this quest for the perfect sound, becomes a loss to creativity, and productivity. Leading to an insecurity, or lack of confidence, with too many choices. That's our take on the issue. Keep it simple. Your imagination is more important than the instruments. Because that's where the music comes from.

Thanks for this, even though it didn't sway us either way.

Great comparison!
I am considering the Muse, but still not convinced of the tone and sound. As a fan of Ob-6 and Trigon but need a 5 octave and more modulations, do you think it can do the kind of sounds good enough to recommend the Muse?
Thanx

I went with the Muse, the sound design options are just pretty crazy. But that is what I needed it for the centerpiece of the studio for sound design. So the mod matrix is pretty important as were many of the other features. The dual sequencers is crazy fun. All kinds of polyrhythms in that if you want. The arpeggiator is also quite nice. Muse honestly is loaded with a ton of features but again only if you want to crack open designing your sounds. It's fat, edgy, for warm and creamy lots of tone. If I were looking for a stage synth or not doing as extensive sound design then the Trigon is quite nice.

Thanks for the indepth comparisons. Looking to buy a Moog Muse - I like the warmth and “wobble” more from the muse - it shimmers

I'm afraid I will miss the stereo analog distortion of the trigon. Can you make a video comparing heavily distorted prog rock leads? (i need to know how heavy/growly the muse can get)... And some smooth creamy minimoog leads while you're at it?
Thanks!

Oh! And a quick tom sawyer test since the muse doesn't have a "vintage knob" to mess up the filter time per voice in unison mode

The Trigon is my favorite analog synth that I own (beating out even the Prophet 10) but I’ve been interested in the Muse. Watching this intently!

There is no king Both are great synths they’re totally different. Trigons missing an octave, and not sure if you bumped it down an octave. On proper speakers to me the trigon low end sounded better, but a lot of them aren’t level matched either so hard to truly tell. for any of us to say there is a winner is funny as that’s just preference to the style of music you’re making and how could people even know without playing it. I have both and I love them both. Thanks for the test.

Thanks for this. Been curious to see a comparison between the Muse and the Voyager. Any thoughts?

I like both. I definitely like the tightness and presence the Trigon brings, but I suspect that the Muse actually sounds bigger and more natural in ways that don't come across on YouTube. I felt his way about other DSI synths, not quite as big and rich as Moog or vintage synths, but sound pretty good recorded. But based on the video I think I prefer the Trigon timbre and envelopes.

Hi. I am going to buy one on these two. I just ask an immediate answere. Which one in the end? Thank you

If I ever buy a used Muse, limit $2K, I will rationalize it by using it as a dual timbre, dual filter, killer monosynth, costing way less than a MiniMoog. Still waiting for Behringer to clone the Memorymoog, but using Cherry Audio Polysynths for now. Used UB-Xa goes for around $1K. When Indonesian made Minis hit the market, they would probably be under $2K. Some high-end flagships like the OBX8 are currently discounted on Sweetwater site. I expect a lot of lower pricing next year when economic realities set in. The Trigon has been on my radar, one day when they're cheaper maybe.

The Novation Summit also shows the saved value when you are changing the setting. It’s very nice to have. The raw sound of the Muse is so sweet. The Trigon is a bit more bright, has a bit more harshness. The Muse is one of the best sounding synths I’ve ever heard.

I'd take either but I'm looking at the Muse.

I sold my OBX8 and bought the Moog Muse. I couldn’t be happier.

Regarding this comparison, eight voices versus six is a no-brainer for me.

Thanks for doing this comparison. Both synths sound great. Your Muse sounds out of tune at times. Have you tried running an autotune calibration function on it after it warmed up? That should fix that issue.

I like the sound of both, but I would personally go with the Muse, especially considering the fact they're the same price, and the fact the Muse has 2 more voices (which is a big plus) and a 5-octave keyboard. I also like the panel layout and display on the Muse better too. Oh, and the Muse sounds a bit more life-like to me as well.

On average the Muse is warmer and more open sounding where the Trigon is very tight and a bit compressed sounding, the latter however not in a bad way. They are both great but overall I’d go for the Muse.
