Meet Will, who lives in an adorable cottage. He started Tiny House Atlanta, which evolved into the MicroLife Institute, a housing nonprofit specializing in developing pocket neighborhoods. The Cottages on Vaughn was their first development. It's on a .5 acre lot, a block from downtown Clarkston in the Atlanta Metro. Includes 8 tiny homes & micro-cottages situated around a common green space with edible regenerative landscaping. Will shares a tour of his small cottage home, the tiny community, and about the importance of building better density for healthy communities.

Much like the old bungalow courts from the early 1900s. Adorable home/community!

"If it is designed well, it works!" Love it.

Interesting how so many people comment on how close together these homes are, when most urban homes - especially subdivisions - are as close, apartment and townhouse dwellers share walls.

Having working for a local non-profit that serves homeless families, I can see huge benefits in this type of model! I think there need to be different pocket neighborhoods at even more affordable levels, but, I would happily retire in.a community like this. And--community is a huge part of what will make this a success. Creating a space to connect to other humans. Love, love, love this!

I totally agree with what he said at the start, that people can thrive if they have their own, safe, affordable home in a friendly community. This is my dream. As I’m currently homeless, at 58 years old, due to the high cost of living in Australia, bunking down in a spare room with family, this truly resonated with me.

Thrilled to see my friend Will's beautiful home featured! I'm honored to have been one of the original 11 that came to that meet up at Wrecking Bar Brewpub on July 14, 2014 and to have been part of Tiny House Atlanta and now the MicroLife Institute. You did it, Will! So proud. All we need is a safe home that we can afford, the ability to buy all the cheese we could ever want 😅 and we can flourish! Once I'm done living #vanlife, I'll be following suit ❤

I love this man, I love what he's done, I love his house, I love the other houses and I love how they set them up! More people like him, please!!! I would LOVE to see these communities pop up more and more here in Minnesota, especially in the Twin Cities area where they are so badly needed! Add a community garden to help them all grow as much of their own food as possible and that makes it perfect!!

Hard to believe it's under 500 sq feet! Spacious and very nice. Love it. The pups need a couch 😉

Will did an amazing job of creating not only beautiful tiny homes but a community space for folks that don't have a million dollars in their bank account! Very, very nice! I'd live there in a heartbeat!

Love this concept! We need more pocket communities like this all over America. Exactly what I’m looking for.

We term that as cluster housing in my rural NH town. No town water or sewer here, so the houses share common land, along with a shared well and septic.system. Tiny houses are still not too common here, but there is minimum
square footage allowed. We have a severe housing shortage here. Our state is small and should look at tiny houses that would meet our building codes. I see vacant industrial parks that already have water, electricity and sewer. These industrial parks look like they would be good places for tiny homes or cluster housing. These parks are usually on the outskirts of towns, so its not a question of disrupting neighborhoods to integrate more viable housing.

Such a beautiful cozy small neighborhood. Love these small homes that are more attainable and cost effective than large homes. Thanks so much for sharing 🐾🐕🥀♥️🙏✝️

Bravo! We need Will going coast to coast to help create beautiful neighborhoods like this across the nation. Just lovely and so smart.

This is a brilliant concept. I picture a community like this for fellow artists and sustainability-focused folks. Areas like Los Angeles could really benefit from adapting to pocket neighborhoods like this. It would maximize so many of the vacant and/or abandoned lots while minimizing the traditional footprint of oversized homes that often squeeze into smaller parcels. There are lots of cool ideas in this video!
