US Visa Case Status CEAC Changed to Refused from Administrative Processing

My husband had his interview March 9th 2023 and he was approved at the interview and they took his passport. He was refused on March 15th 2023 and it took 3 months and his visa was issued to him in June of 2023....hope this helps someone and best of luck❤

The detail description is for the people who also went through the administrative process for their B1/B2 US visitor visa case. My parents applied for US visitor visa on Nov 03rd 2022 from Ottawa consulate, their interview went smooth and officer approved the visa. We were then instructed to collect the passport whenever we got the email. On nov 07 we did received my mothers passport back with the visa on it but didn’t received it for my father. At that time my father online status was showing Approved and it remained the same till nov 14th. During this time we didn’t heard anything regarding his passport. On Nov 15th the CEAC case status changed from approved to refused and that was the time of getting panic for me. Upon getting information online and from some of the my friends i was able to understand that refused does not means that my father is denied for Visa but the case is under administrative process (AP). Then on Nov 24th almost 10 days pass by the CEAC status changed from Refused to Approved and then the very next day it again changed from Approved to Issued. Finally after those stressful 25 days we received my father’s passport back with the visa on it. During these 25 days they kept my father’s passport with them and upon emailing them we were receiving auto generated reply and nothing else. After the interview the visa officer did said approved for the visa else we were not handed over any kind of form or slips. To advice those who are also getting stressful seeing their CEAC status change from approved to refused that it is actually under administrative process and not a denied case unless the officer on interview day said that you are denied for the visa and returned your passport. When ever the case is under such process they stop showing it as “Administrative Process” just says “Refused” on CEAC. During this status changed cycle if your passport is with them then you don’t have to worry about it let them complete the process and your visa will be issued. FYI there is a chances that they might returned your passport back and again asked for it once the process is complete to issue the visa so keep your hopes alive and lord will make things easy for everyone.

IR1-IR2 Visa here and we're still waiting for our passports with Visa and our status is the same as you've mentioned from administrative processing to refused and we don't have 221g and so far no emails or letters from all the offices, so we're just positive that the Visa will arrive soon its the third week now from the interview approval, we will be back for the update.

I went to my spousal immigrant visa interview recently, and i was put on AP and no additional documents was requested. On the 21 of June 2023 I was re-scheduled for another appointment this time, with my wife over in her Country on the phone.
We both answered the questions as truthful as we know. At the end the Officer said they’ll get back to us on a Mail, please how long would this take?

My case was previously in Administrative Processing, due to this change it displayed "Refused". On 1st of April 2020 my CEAC status changed to "Issued", but due to embassies closure I did not receive my passports along with the visa. Now on July 17th 2020 again my case shows refused. After more than three months from being issued.

My Visa status was changed to 'Administrative processing' after 3 days and ISSUED on the 4th day. Do not worry its Visa officer said your visa is approved, your status will change in 4 days. All The Best..

My mom had her interview June 29th . ( Cairo/Egypt) . Everything went well and they told her congratulations 🎊 you will recieve your passport in 3 weeks. In 4 days she received her passport back with yellow paper checked on ( Passport, and Administrative processing) and some other papers with Same questions been asked in the interview !! As the case status showing ( Refused) . Even if we answer the questions by email . How we will get the visa. We have the passport ! We are so confused

Hi My husband had a successful visa interview on 21st Sept and on spot he was given a yellow slip, clearly mentioning "Congratulations! your us Non-immigrant visa to visit the United State has been approved!" Consulate officer has taken the Passport. His visa category is J1 research scholar. Just after two days, he received one email asking for research background check (221g letter actually). Could you please suggest us how long does it take to complete the process?
