Jab Without Getting Countered

The basic boxing technique and fighting strategy to help you throw jabs confidently without getting countered. It's often said that the jab is the most important punch in boxing but it's incredibly terrifying to throw this punch when your opponent could counter you with a huge right hand or big hook. But then how are you going to setup your own big punches when you're too scared to throw the jab? I've put together some helpful tips to get you feeling more comfortable with letting go of the jab and punishing your opponent when he tries to counter it.

00:00 - Intro
00:30 - Commit to the jab
01:06 - Chin behind your shoulder
01:50 - Step with your jab
02:14 - Prepare a counter
02:39 - Use the right glove to block the right hand
03:25 - Pay attention
04:11 - Summary

My son has been boxing for only 7 months and he is doing amazing. I asked him what made him want to do boxing and he said the I inspired him. He's 13 years old now

or get your opponent used to a rhythm with your jab, then faint a jab with a quick in-and-out and then light him up when you're set on your feet. for this technique you would need to be decent at controlling distance though.

The fifth thing you talked about Johnny, the blocking with the right hand with throwing the jab. I see Gennady Golovkin do this consistently. Not necessarily one after the other, but he does do it a lot and no one has an immediate answer for it. Just thought that was an interesting point to note. Great video!
