Can always expand the farm, The mud allows the items to go through so you wont ever lose bamboo to it not going in the right place which helps with the amount you get.

Materials: 5 bamboo, 5 mud, 5 hoppers, 1 chest, 5 pistons, 5 red stone, 64 smooth stone, 5 observers, and 15 glass

the bamboo doesn't go into the funnel, I used a block of earth on the floor of the bamboo

Wouldn't you rather add a light source inside the farm so that you can power the farm during the night as well?
