The Peter Principle says that people are promoted to their lowest level of incompetence. What do you do when you sense that it is happening to you?

Well said. Few people can grasp the fact that they are not as competent as they believe they are. The greatest blessing I received in my career was not being selected for brigadier general (despite my many attempts). The system worked exceptionally well in my instance.

Interesting... This effect feels like an unfortunate fact of nature. Definitely something to keep in mind when moving through an organization.
