How To Launch a Boat At the Ramp | BoatUS

You're at the launch ramp getting ready for a day on the water with friends. BoatUS Magazine's senior editor Rich Armstrong teaches you how to launch a boat at the ramp when you have assistance. He explains what each person should do and how to safely back up the the boat trailer, unhook the boat from the trailer, and get it to the dock. Install lines on cleats, replace the drain plug, remove the transom tie-downs. Unplug trailer lights, loosen safety chain. Signal to the driver, release winch line and bow eye, secure the boat to the dock. Finally, walk the boat to the end of the dock while the driver parks the truck and trailer.

Everything is good till he do balancing act. If you do RA, it is extremely dangerous to stand directly in front of the boat. It is also extremely dangerous to reach or extend your body to turn the crank.

The risk are back strain, slip and fall and possible death. It is important for you as boater to step in the water and to the side. Why?

You are giving yourself more space and time to evade any bad movement from the boat.
