I feel like the real twist would be that 40 year old her is the one taking the shrooms, and this movie is about what she wishes she could tell her teenage self, rather than the other way around

I'm 40. Next time someone asks how old I am I will answer with "I'm a very young adult"😅😂

The opening of this trailer is hilarious because Aubrey Plaza actually turned 40 yesterday.

Aubrey Plaza is a guarantee to get me to watch something at this point. the range she's shown since Parks and Rec ended is impressive.

The timing of the release for this trailer after Aubrey’s birthday is perfect

Plaza turned out to be a hidden gem - her acting range is remarkable. I honestly assumed she was a one dimensional actress just playing a caricature of herself in the brilliant Parks & Recs. I stand corrected. I’ll watch anything she’s in at this point.

"If you weren't dumb and young you wouldn't be brave enough to do anything." That line is so true!

You get over the “they don’t look alike” part real quick. The actors have the same emotional core and mannerisms. Stunning film, the whole theater cried and I would happily watch it again!

One of the best movies ever. Y’all seriously need to watch this. Completely rocked at Sundance this year.

When the younger version of herself said “maybe you need to listen to my advice for once” gave me goosebumps! We need to remember our younger selves more of our younger selves could see us now what would they say? Would they be happy? Would they want us to do things differently! I definitely think we need to listen to the younger version of ourselves more before they were conditioned by society before things like division and fear were programmed i to us 🥰

If I met my younger self, I would just say, "You did the best you could with what you had, and also wear your retainers".

1:54 “Young. Dumb, and Full of Fun”
“Youth” definitely not wasted on the young. Anybody who says otherwise: likely figured it out too late. At 65 years old, the best advice I could give a young person: enjoy every season of your life.

"I'm a very young Adult"

The writer of this dialogue is my hero now.

Loved this film. I want to see it again. It’s unique & takes in being aware of now, the moments you’re currently experiencing before they’re gone (forever) so you really get to have them, because life moves so fast - it’s ephemeral.
Also, I liked the subtext that her older self is living in a very different time - life has changed so much. Young Maisy doesn’t really take that in, but listen to what older Maisy is saying on the phone. You’ll hear sirens going off, she’ll say “ok everyone to the basement now!” and cuts the call short. Or she talks about “enjoy the salmon now, while you can”, etc.
