RIP to Lance Reddick, the voice behind the Captain who recently passed. Such a tender and insightful scene.

The Captain is an object lesson in Active Listening. He doesn't interrupt but places questions and quips to help the person he's talking to engaged in telling their story.

He drinks the lime water again towards the end of the series showing that he's sticking with his fresh outlook on life. The writing of this show is just *chef's kiss*

Everyone needs an Uncle Iroh character to help their inner turmoil.

Dude the Captain is such a chill guy.
Hears from this random stranger who upon meeting him told him he was going to kill him, his crew, and then steal their ship. Talked him down from doing that and then proceeds to have drinks with the guy. Is told this dude served Dracula, the king of Vampires and is a global-level threat and his only response is "This is gonna be a good story"

The audacity, pride, and size of the balls on this man is mind-boggling and I approve!

Isaac did the same thing to Hector. Bringing him clarity while sharing some lemon water. If you watch the third clip he even quotes the captain "then you shall have it"

Maybe Dracula was showing his gratitude, in his final moments Isaac was the only to stand by him. By saving Isaacs life he was saying thank you.

I've seen theories about the Captain being an angel or even God himself. While good theories by themselves, I think the Captain being human is far better. A random man who just so happened to be at the right place at the right time to bring a different perspective to a man who was lost in the ambitions of the dead.

I was not mentally prepared for Jamaican Zavala, but I'm not complaining either.

Small role, big impact is the best way to describe The Captain.

The Captain: *sees Isaac with a bunch of demons*
The Captain: I'm about to uplift this man's whole career.

I'm not that well versed on health issues when traveling by sea but I do know that scurvy was a major health concern for many sailors. Seeing the Captain drink his water with lemon shows he is taking care of his health instead of drinking ale that most media forms show pirates as an unclean and idiotic lot. Goes to show how the writers did their research and not make it look cool and unique.

I like how he asked "What happened?" like he was disappointed Dracula's genocide failed lol

I never realized the Captain was Lance Reddick. That's how talented he was, I love all his roles and he did the Captain's voice so well I couldn't even tell it was him. RIP Lance Reddick, you were a truly talented man who was nothing but amazing to watch and hear.

Honestly these writers created some beautiful in this show, but this conversation is like a lodestar.

It will help so many who are lost, tired, and hopeless. And it's just beautiful
